I am toying with the idea of building a foam core board plane of the high wing flat bottom style. Can anyone suggest some dimensions for a 50 four stroke. Be generous in considering the 50's power.

How about an Ugly Stik? It would be easy enough to cut the foam out to match the balsa parts.

Dave, you didn't say, but are you having to run your fa150 3+ turns out on the hsn?

Another thing, even though I replaced the tiny hsn oring the hsn is still a bit wobbly. Do high time engines sometimes require hsn replacement due to thread wear? Or maybe the threads wear out on the fuel inlet? Just too wobbly imo.

I'll have to check that for you, I would replace both the HS needle and the fuel inlet. Solid extensions are really hard on the HS needle threads. Sorry, I'm not a turn counter, I just set em and forget em. I'll be back.

I'm not a turn counter either Dave. I start 3 turns out on the hsn for all my overhauls and that's always been too rich. Just surprised I had to open it further to keep from pitching props.

Thanks on the threading issues. I have a new hsn I can try to see if that helps. Looks like I'll be buying the whole inlet/spraybar kit for this high time engine.

What's the story with the rtv on that pic you posted earlier? Are the big blocks notorious for vacuum leaks at the carb/manifold junction?

That carb pictured is from a Saito 2.20 I had for a while, Adrain at CHI now owns it, at one time I went through a faze and sealed everything, big waste so I quit doing it. I never had a leak like that anyway.

You be pretty sure that if 3 turns don't do it, something else is wrong. The smaller ones 2 turns is magic.

Thanks. I'm not a turn counter per se but I am a leak chaser when things aren't acting right. For cowled engines I count the hsn turns so I can get it close when R&R-ing cowls. My 180 hsn is 1-3/4 out, about average for most 4 strokes. The 150 at 3-1/2 turns out seems excessive.

This is a 2.20 carb, the tiny O-ring is not so tiny, I never had to change it. PS, the RTV was because of the choke slot.

I did not get to run the 150 yesterday, hopefully I can get to that today. I set up it sans the CHI, it wears a later cast muffler.

Yes I do, I moved here two years ago, so far only once this year, an LT 25 is tiny here, the front/right field is 750' the rear is 500'. It doesn't matter where the sun is.

The field is near Thornburg, Va. 41.1 miles from my house, with a nice Club House and shelter with electric power.

Completely disassembled the 150 carb and found a tiny clear substance stuck at the spraybar slit and some minute debris in the inlet. Cleaned that up, ran it again and retuned. The lsn and hsn needed 1/2 turn in but power is still down 1/2 hp and it still won't idle below 2200. It's spinning a 15x8 at 8900 peak, should be spinning at 16x8 at that rpm.

Rechecked cam timing, rockers were dead even at tdc on the exhaust stroke. Tore down the engine and found the front bearing seal had popped out of the bearing but nothing else looks off. Bearings are new and smooth, compression is excellent, leakdown is excellent, no intake tract leaks detected, new ring, new valve springs, new fuel, new glow plug. Hmmmm
