Got a pair of FG30's for my B-25. Someday I plan to get back to working on it. I have too many projects around the house to get done first and sprig is just around the corner which means getting the hay equipment ready for harvest, getting fertilizer and weed kill out, and a whole slew of other projects.

Maybe I should pencil in a weekend just for planes.

THAT was awesome! Very scale-like flight and realistic.Beautiful climb out and turn. Face it, many "scale" RC planes look cartoonish in flight. That plane is very nicely built, a high level of skills involved there .

LOL not many planes lift off with the speed of 2MPH. it makes me wonder if it would fly with only 1 Saito 82.

Speed does not "scale" well.
Watching a video like that is far more realistic in appearance than 99% of the typical model videos.

That aside, I can appreciate that the plane itself took a bit more talent than the average kit built or ARF.

I have just joined the club with my first ever Saito..
Came attached to a second hand VQ hurricane.
The prop on it was a 13x6 or 7, hard to tell as no markings on the prop.
I tried to move to a 14x7 as per the VQ manual for a 91 size engine and ran into a snag, there is not enough thread left to get the nut in place.
I would attach a photo, but rcu does not seem to let me,.
The motor hits 10,000 rpm at full steam with the 13x?, should I just stick with that one?

At 10K peak rpm I'm guessing it came with a 13x8 or 13x9 prop, depends on how much nitro you're using. Hard to tell from the pic but it does appear that the crank has been cut shorter. The end of a factory crank should have a dimple in the center. I have a good used crank for an FA-91. PM me if you're interested.

Thanks for the reply, might be a bit costly to ship down under.. The 13" props are withing the operating range of the motor, so maybe better staying with them.
Never understood why people do this kind of thing.

Your spinner back plate looks very thick. Perhaps a different spinner would allow for a thicker prop.

Maybe you know a local who has gone "overkill" and wasted his money on a lathe. If so, you can counterbore the prop hub and make up a custom spigoted nut that extends into the hub.

I'd love to have a lathe, but just don't have the space for it. One day I will fill in the pool and build a nice big shed.
I don't know of anyone who has one, but will ask around the club.

We have this group called men's sheds here in Aus, its where older gents gather and do woodwork, metal work, etc..
I have dropped them a line and may need to provide them a diagram. But they will let me know shortly if they can produce something for me.

Should be okay but, if you have room that spigot could benefit from a thicker wall. A 9mm or maybe 10 mm diameter. The increase needs rely on adequate meat in the prop hub. Also, use a stout, hard washer. The area where the spigot meets the base of the nut should have a neat 1.5 mm radius fillet . The washer should have a chamfer to clear any contact on the fillet.

I can ream out the centre hole on the prop, it has a tone of meat there..
That would allow me to enlarge the spigot to 10mm (I was assuming this would face toward the engine and go into the prop)
