The LS needle is too rich, when it is lean the engine just quits, instantly, no cough, no sputter. Set the LS needle with the HS needle at absolute peak or you'll be chasing the LS needle forever.

MAny thanks for your help gentleman. It turns out I was very, very lean on the LS side of the carb. For the time being, the LS NV is about 2 turns above the side of the throttle arm. Nice steady idle, excellent transition to high throttle and fine midrange.
THANKS!!!!

I would try a hotter plug, like an OS "F" before I started tearing into things again. My 450 was running very sluggish at high end, and a set of OS plugs made a tremendous difference.

Not sure if this is the proper place to post this. I had lunch with a club member today and he was saying on his Saito 120 that he is getting a lot of fuel leakage. Thinks it might be coming from the front bearing. The engine is inverted. Said that the pushrods tubes are soaked in fuel. Has anyone experieced this poblem. I do not own any Saitos so I was not any help. He also stated that he has to turn the HSN out about 3 turns for it to run good. Thanks

He's probably got it a little rich but they are usually juicy on the out side. It is oil and not fuel.

Bearing question
I have a great Saito FA80 that runs well for quite a long time,
Have also got an elderly Saito 100 with more than 15 Gall. through it.
Both engine came to a point where bearings needs to be replaced.
Can someone tell me what are the bearing sizes for those engines, and what would be a recommended source for them?
Thanks

She sure looked good at the Savanna before the first flight. We double checked every thing, I had Mark one of the very experience flyers go through the radio check independently from me, engine was running at 9,400 RPM at full power. Doubled checked the CG again. Conditions were very windy to the extent that I delayed the flight by a few minutes. Then I throttled up , lifted off and she immediately banked to the right. Maybe I did not have enough speed and she stalled, maybe a gust of wind.???? Every thing was still working on the ground, ailerons were not mixed up. The plane had been balanced before the flight. The damage is significant but repairable so we will put her back in the hanger and start again. This is the unfortunate part of our hobby. But it is still a great hobby. To get over the disappointment I immediately took up my Diablo and had two good flights. Diving right back in is the best cure.

You got the idea
" lifted off and she immediately banked to the right. Maybe I did not have enough speed and she stalled, "

Yep.. that sounds exactly like my first warbird takeoff... and crash! You really need to get a warbird wing flying before you hit the elevator. I think a lot of people find out how easy a Sport ARF is to fly when they buy their first warbird.
Good luck with the repairs, and with your next takeoff!
