Maybe someone can help me here. I inherited a small ME109 that came with a .15 engine. The only markings on the engine are .15 on the side of the block and MRC on the carb. I did a search for MRC and didn't really come up with anything. Anyways, the engine came with no muffler, and I was trying to identify it so maybe I could find one to fit it. I'll post a pic from home this afternoon. Was there an MRC that made engines? I know back in the `70's everyone and their brother had their own design. For some reason, when I look at it, it I keep thinking Enya ... but then again, if I were THAT smart, I wouldn't be on here looking for help

At one time, MRC imported a number of products with their name on them. Futaba radios are one such example.
I am not absolutely positive of what I am going to say. I am sure someone else will jump in here with an opinion.
I "think" that MRC imported either Enya or Fuji (looks like an Enya) engines into the US with their MRC name on them. This would be in the early to mid Seventies, IIRC.
I'm sure someone else will nail it down even better.

It looks like they only have two engines for sale. Neither is for a model airplane.
Remember the old metal box Tx cases of the original MRC radios? I owned a couple of those over the years. They had a really good feel to them.
I can remember when Enya was one of the hot pattern engines. My first .60 was a used Enya .60 Series II that I flew on a Don Brown Beta low wing ARF. My first low wing model had just suffered a catastropic crash due to the wing folding in a split-S. It was my first D-tube construction wing. No one told me about fiberglassing the center section. Certainly it was not mentioned in the instructions. Anyway, the DB Products "Beta" was a good flyer and it taught me a lot. The Enya .60 II (open exhaust in those days) never missed a single beat during the year or two that it was flown several times a week.
MRC always provided me with impressive parts service. I will miss that aspect of their dealing in Enya parts.

MRC went to the dogs a long time ago. Too bad some good products went down with them.

Having worked in retail sales off and on for much of my life, I can tell you that some customer groups are very low maintenance and some are very high maintenance. Model airplane folks tend to be high maintenance, as do amateur radio folks.
If someone buys a toy for the kids and it breaks, they usually trash it and buy them another one. Ditto radios, TVs, computers, etc. There is no one at the store counter trying to order obscure parts for an engine that was made ten to twenty years ago with the customer insisting that they must have that part. Not only that, but how do you install it? Is it any wonder that when a distributor has an opportunity to make just as much money, or more, selling products with low maintenance customers, that they do so? I think not.

here's a couple of pics. i almost know I'm not going to find an OEM muffler, but I should be able to find something that will work.

I thought that this would be easy with some pictures, but I'm just as stumped as you are.
There appears to be no provision for fastening a baffle plate or exhaust rotor drum for throttling, so, it probably relied upon a strap-on muffler.
I'm with you in that I know you can find something muffler-wise for it. I bought a Tatone/J'Tec exhaust muffler/manifold (strap-on from Tower) for my ST G20/15 a year or two ago, so I know that something exists to get you flying legally at the club field.

You might be able to get some help on this one from Uncle Bob:
http://www.bobsengines.com
Just e-mail him what you know and he can probably provide some guidance. He may have the muffler you need sitting on a shelf.
