IT'S ALIVE!!! Man I love the sound of a twin 4S!
I rebinded (is that a word? LOL) the receiver and the servo problem went away. Weather permitting she maidens next weekend.

Today's the day! Will she gracefully take to the sky? Or come crashing down in a spectacular KABOOM!! LOL Seriously though I'm stoked and a club member has promised to bring a video camera, so stay tuned, what ever happens it'll be posted.

Thanks Skylark! It was a successful day the plane flew with very little trim adjustments but it does like to climb, after all it is a Kadet...lol I'll be adding some shims under the back of the wing to see if I can dial it in but over all it is a very good flyer, the role rate isn't overly fast but very realistic and it loops nice and tight. Coming in low with that twin 4S thumping away is very cool, looks and sounds very realistic. Overall I'm very happy and so far I have achieved what I was going for, no video yet still waiting for to be sent to me, as soon as I get it I'll post it. Thanks everyone!!

Dwayne, good to hear you had a successful flight. Besides shimming the wing, you should consider a tad more down thrust to the engine. With the weight of a twin I can't imagine you need more nose weight, but it's worth checking also. Technically the Kadet should change altitude with throttle control.

Dwayne: Dude, that's awesome. I have a pair of Saito FA-90 TS engines looking for a home. I'm thinking the Kadet Senior kit would be a good match for this plane.

I already have one Kadet Senior ARF with an OS .70 FS, which has been a great trainer and fun plane, and I just got it airworthy again after several years in our basement crawl space so I can teach my two boys how to fly. I also have a Kadet kit for 3 channels which I bought several years ago but will get back on next month. I'm going to shorten the wing ribs and add ailerons, and I'll probably put an old OS .40 FP in it that I've had for 20 years but always flew great. Add me to the brotherhood!

You can't kill those old FPs! I just score a NIB .10 and a nearly NIB .15 for two future projects. I have a friend who has offered to sell me a NIB .20, he wants $30 for it. When I have a spare $30 its sold. The .10 will go into a Sunday Fighter designed by Ken Willard (Fokker Heinschmitt) and the .15 will go into a Ace Simple Series Staggerwing.

Thanks for the kind words, this was a most satisfying and fun project, now that it's dialed in I can't wait to wring her out and see what she can do.

Jeff, I trained a guy at our field on an old 3 channel Sig Kadet and he and I both liked it better than the club trainer with ailerons. Why not just teach the grandkids on 3 channels? For training, I think it's a good way to go, and a simpler build.

Hey Jeff! Gotta say it, I agree totally with Jim - keep that 3-channel Kadet as a 3-channel. She's WAY MORE FUN that way, and definitely a simpler build. If you really want to go to pretty much the same plane but as a 4-channel, get the Mk-II version (which I now fly, having retired my original 3-ch just a couple years ago). You won't be sorry.

And there is nothing more fun than trying to get a nice roll out of a plane on 3 channels.

I'll admit that's a challenge - but sometimes a challenge can be a lot of fun.

Shoot, it's ALL fun!

Its easy to get in the habit of relying on ailerons to turn, using a 3 channel gives you valuable rudder management skills which come in handy with large more complicated airplanes.
