Yeah, I think Bob is pretty much the guy to go to now. He's good, almost as good as Mike was.

As far as a Kadet build thread, it would be in the builders forum, I'm sure.

Gonna be awhile though. My Stratus has priority on EVERYTHING these days, and it's going slow. Would probably be better (and faster) to just build a new one.

I need to kick it, I am way far behind on repairs and finishing some builds, along with a new build on a Citabria. I got the wing done so far since I started in October.

Hello Kadet Brotherhood, first time in a long time since I've been on rcu and just found you guys. The Kadets have been my favorite rc aircraft since I helped my father fly his original MK I when I was real young. Since I am a proud owner of 10 Kadets (built/unbuilt), I request permission to enter the Brotherhood and await my designated number. Thank you!

Thank you so much. Was a rcu member like 10 years ago, lost all my log in information so in 2013 I signed back up but didn't take the time to add all my planes to my hanger. So I'm slowly starting to get them in. Glad to be part of a group that enjoys this family of aircraft as much as I do!

She's really coming along now, still some more trim and pin striping but you can see now what it will look like and I'm really liking it! Come on spring...LOL

Dwayne,

She looks great and I love that twin mount on the nose! Kind of a shame to cowl her!

Thanks, yes I'm seriously thinking about going with no cowl.

Truly, the guys are right - that's a classy engine on a classy plane. You definitely don't want to go with no cowl on any model Kadet (drag and buffeting air), but what about a "transparent" cowl?

Really, she's looking GOOD!

Thanks Skylark, much appreciated. How do you think a round cowl with the rockers sticking out would look?

Different - but maybe rather interesting. Sure, I'd say "go for it"!

So here's a mock up of a cowl I made just to see what it will look like, I'm now a little apprehensive as you can see in the photo looking up from the bottom the cowl will not go around the fuse and I don't want to go bigger as it won't look right from the top. What do you guys think?

Reminds me of a Spartan 7W Executive.

Hokay - it looks good actually. Is there anything that says you can't build a fairing on each bottom corner to match the fuse?

OR - instead of a fairing, a pair of actual exhaust scoops that would overhang those bottom corners, thus hiding them completely.

How about a J3 or PA18 Cub or Taylorcraft type cowl. IMHO, a more square or rectangular cowl would better fit the fuse. The J3 cowl would let the twin jugs hang out. You could carve a foam cowl mockup and cover it with f'glass and then dissolve the foam. Good luck.

After doing some searching I've found the the cost plus shipping to Canada for a cowl would be over 50 bucks, sorry taint gonna happen, so stay tuned I'm gonna build my own. It'll be round and I'll carve the bottom of the fuse to blend it in. Wish me luck...lol

My build was interrupted when I got laid off Jan 2014, picked up a temp engineering job in April of that year, started a new real job August that year, only now am I coming up for air.

I'll continue the build after I get tired flying the parkzone sport cub I just picked up to get my fingers back into the zone.

I got canned in Jan 14, and that gave me time to work on my Biper while looking for work, got a job in March and haven't had time since.

Today was a good day, starting to get everything set up, one thing though I've never seen before. When turning on the receiver the elevator servo (Hitec Standard non digital) goes though it's full motion up and down several times before stopping and settling in at neutral, I've not seen this before and it has me concerned.

Sounds like a cabling issue. I get servo flutter if the connection isnt solid on my T-Clips. When I move the ailerons up left and right one servo will flutter, so if I flip the Y harness between the two servos they act normal, and have not had any issues once connected. I think it is the signal wire(white or yellow) one that isn't connecting well that causes it it.
