LOL Thats funny right there, I don't care who you are!

Well I got out and flew my SSE. Beautiful day, 62* light winds. Man I just love that plane. I put it through the wringer and it just flies and flies. I practiced a Harrier, and nearly had a perfect landing, but it dropped the nose the last foot and killed the engine, just a touch of power a moment sooner would have got it down on all 3 smooth as glass. I tried to get my P-51 in the air, but couldn't get the engine started, it just spit fuel all over even with a hot GP. It tried starting twice with a back flip, but that was it. I had it spinning with the starter and nothing. I blame Old Fart.

Hi Folks. Is this brotherhood still open for members? I have been wanting to scratch build a Kadet Senorita for some time and cannot find a plan anywhere. Perhaps someone in the brotherhood can help. Certainly no-one in South Africa has managed to help yet. I have plans for other cadets but that one evades me.

Capn Crunch is right - SIG's got the full kit available. Understood about wanting to scratch build it though. SOMEONE here might just have the original plans available that they could pdf for us. If not, you might get the kit, have the plans copied and scratch build from the copy, keeping the original kit intact.

Wow! That's really Cool! I met him once, (years ago!) at a fly-in, but I didn't have a Kadet for him to autograph! By the way, Tom, congrats on your Lockheed Vega and your Kadet, they're both exceptional, with your "Shell" scheme! I read the whole thing from start to finish! I'd love to see flight videos for both of them! I hope that happens! I have a very old and unfinished Lockheed Vega myself. I think it's a Pepino too, but I'm not sure. The wingspan looks the same, as does the fuselage, but it's strip-planked along the fuselage sides. I don't have plans, so I can't tell if it's really a Pepino or not. I bought it years ago, as part of an estate sale. It has functioning landing gear, wheel pants, and a huge cowl. I'll try to find some photos of it, to post on your build thread. My very first plane, (a control line model that I never flew!) was Red and Yellow, and I've had numerous Red and Yellow planes since! (they're easy for my old eyes to see, too!) Blue Skies!

My Vega was built from an IKON kit. Strip planking would probably have been a good idea. My Luscombe has some strip planking, as I realized that it was the way to go, after building the Vega.

You're spot on, about the yellow/red color schemes. They are easy for old eyes to see.

A friend used to paint my models, but he moved away. I had to teach myself to paint, or resort to plastic film.

I prefer the painted loo, so I started practicing. In the end, it wasn't too hard to come up with a decent finish, using aerosols.

I now use an HVLP gun, too, but the ease of using spray cans is hard to beat, at least for me.

My only problem with painting is where. If i do it in my shop it stinks up the house, and if I do it in the garage I have a small window to do it and I am usually doing other things during those windows. Some day I plan to install a strong blower that can suck that stink out. I can easily make a booth with plastic and lath.

Well I don't paint I have had the worst luck painting. I tried to paint a cowl once and the paint ran off yes last coat and ran off. Tried to help a friend paint I plane he said do it like this and the primer ran. Then I was working on airplanes in the paint department at the airport when I decided to paint flames on my tool box. Two passes with the gun and the paint department kicked me out of the booth and said (you play with tools we play with paint. Stay away from the paint) cool part about that is I got a custom paint job on my box. So I stick with altra coat or monocote because it doesn't run away.
I know what You are thinking use less paint but it never looks right to me, always looks like it needs one more coat.
