Default DCM Chippy.

hey all,
getting this DCM 100” Chippy this week. It had a hardly run DA85. Anyone know where I can resource a cowl, main gear and landing gear covers?
only problem I see is the bottom of one wing tip. It looks like the fiberglass is Delaminated
Thanks,
Frank

Looks like the fiberglass, delaminated on the bottom of the wing.

I’ve picked up plans and parts from him. Thanks

Does the complete tail cone remove from yours or is it a cover?

he got back to me and will work up a price for the parts.

I won’t have it in my hands until tomorrow evening. Then I’ll see about the tail piece.

mine just has the cover. Which comes
my next question.
How do we get to the rudder control horn, through the cover.

Back cover or through the cover under the rudder?

I get a little more throw to the left.

All the throw I can get. I think the rudder horn isn’t straight.

Default Chipmunk

Yeah this chipmunk is just like the one I lost. I’m told this is a 3W kit. I now have a DCM NOS and the complete tail cone comes off not just a cover. Mine was set up with elevator servos were in the tail and I could access the ruder linkage there. Rick

the elevator servos are in the tail,on this as well. Guess ill pull them out and see if I can access it. I’m about ready to do a pull pull and exit them
out of the fuse. I’d have to cut into the rudder covering and add a block, for the rudder control horns.

Pull pull would work a lot better, mine had just a little more rudder throw than yours.

it does have pull pull. I think the rudder horn is off set. Since I get more throw in one direction. I’ll have to dig deeper into it.

I’ve been searching for the 3w Chipmunk. The only one I see has a 2 piece wing. Mine is a single 100” span. 🤔

it came with what looks like a new DA85. There’s also a ton of weight all around it. I will re CG it and see what’s going on with it. I’ll be adding a smoke system as well.

Default Chipmunk

That should fly it well, I was flying with a G62, flew good but was a little under powered. Although same wing span, the 3W is a little larger. MY rudder was in tack so I was going to use it on the DCM to save time but it wouldn’t fit. I also had a good amount of lead shot glued in the nose of the cowl to balance

I have just finished a re-paint of a Seagull 81" Chipmunk. I have had two as they fly so well. The first was in the Canadian Yellow and this one is in silver with the Cranwell College blue stripes.
Turnigy 4258 500kV motor, 5S 5000mAh lipo, 15 x 10 prop, and a Neuron 60A ESC. Guidance is by Horus X10.

Cheers
Danny

Congrats Danny!

I also follow you on the RCM&E forum and know your new Chipmunk has had a great success on the Scale Models Champs you have entered it.

By the way I got in love with the Chip just on silver colours when I got, several years ago, the Radio Modeller issue with Mr. Roger Pegg and Mr John Kidd design on the cover, so I specially like your Chip scheme.

Nice looking Chipmunk! You did not mention what kit it is from. Surely something that is unavailable these days.
None the less, what are the specs?
Looks like I am seeing a needle valve sticking out the top. What's the power plant? Wing span?

Thank you.
I did mention, it's built from Carl Goldberg (CG) kit. 64" span.
The model is powered by an OS 95V fourstroke

LOL
You sure did mention it was a CG kit and I read right through it and did not even snap to the "CG" being there...
Well, like I said, it's a good looking plane...

Motivated me to look at the online plans download sites and found that at least one does have a copy of the old Goldberg Chipmunk plans.
I did not download yet to see if there are any patterns though.
Not that I would be building one anytime soon...maybe someday?

Rick, Outer Zone does have the plans but no seperate sheet for the parts. If you are looking for a short kit you can contact Kanata Aircraft Models in Canada. Excellent product and service.
The kit I built from was a partially damaged one with one side of box and all the wood being oil soaked, plus the fuse sides were badly warped. I got the required parts from Kanata and completed the model.

Not sure if this thread gets any traffic anymore. But if you go to Outerzone, they have the Goldberg Super Chipmunk, plans, building directions. In the directions, it shows each sheet and how the parts are laid out. Could use that, scale it, print it out for templates to cut out all the parts.

Dear Super Chipmunk friends!
To build my Super Chipmunk (81") from 3drchobby247 I need a engine-cowling and a canopy.
I really hope that someone can help me here.
With hopeful regards
