The .91FX will fit nicely. I recently put one in mine and it flies well, only 2 flights on it so far so no word on how it will perform until it breaks in a little more. I used a 15X8 wood prop the first couple flights, going to try a 14X8APC next time out. In the process of installing smoke in it now, will let you know how it goes..

The motor was a simple install, in fits as easily as a .61 would. The ARF should be quite easy to build, I built the kit as my first kit plane and is was a blast to do. I didn't do many mods to mine as it is built quite well to begin with. I just replaced the top stringers on the turtle deck with spruce instead of using the balsa ones that were included in he kit. Then I cut one bay off each wing tip after I had a few flights on it to improve the roll rate alittle. Here's a few pics of the wing mod, quite easy to be honest.

I don't have any pics of the motor install, basically the same as the instructions say. I've had a few different motors in this plane, Started life with a RCV.91CD then went to a Saito 1.00, then a YS1.10, back to the Saito1.00. Then a another new Saito1.00 and finally a OS.91FX w/ a Macs smoke system. This plane has turned into a great engine test platform.

I've had 3, 4* 60's and have had os 91 4 stroke and a os 70 4 stroke and a 61 os 2 stroke and they all fly fine. I also have 2 4* 40s.

How easy is the arf build? This will be my first arf ever made. And also how long would flight time be with the stock 300cc 12.4oz tank with my os .75ax running on her?
Im allitle over exited about it coming in and building her up for the spring weather

Thanks!

O wow nice, I usually fly for about 7-8mins then come in for a land and then go up after a nice cool down. 10mins is perfect!
Hey guys what would be a very good landing gear for her? I am all about landing in smooth and comfortable! No jumping on landings
if you know what I mean
But I would like to get a nice set of landing gear that would fit under nicely and not weight alot also do you think the stock tail dragger is fine?
Cant wait to have her built, Ill be inside all day because of this snow blizzard
.
Thank guys!

I noticed that no one addressed the thought of reducing the wieght of the tail. When I opened the box I saw that there appeared to be a lot of wood in the supplyed parts for tail feathers. I had heard it said that these planes tended to be tail heavy, so I proceeded to cut down some of the wood parts size wise and used 1/32 balsa instead of 1/16. This allowed me to substiute spruce for balsa for the stringers for more strength. Mine came out just right on balance if not a little nose hesvy. I also used d-tube constuction on the wing and eliminated the dia. cross bracing. 91 for power is just right. Mine flies great. I don't think you need to increase the size of the ele and rud.

Just almost ready to fly mine now. It seems to have taken ages to build. I have built about 5 arfs since I started this. The only mods were to slightly increase the rudder elevator and airleron sizes as well as sheet the leading edge. The tips have all been rounded which added about 2" to the wingspan! Dubro tail wheel used and all the sheeting that they say for the empenage. The CG seems to be literaly spot on. Must double check that but thats what it seems. The engine is an O.S. 91 FS

Looks good. You're gonna enjoy it. It's going to be a floater, though. The 4*60 that I'm currently flying has the stock wings and I have to reduce the power early on downwind or just fly the pattern lower than usual in order to get it down and stopped on our paved club runway. I've been meaning to clip the wings like I did on my previous 4* but other projects keep getting in the way of it. You'll have fun flying it either way.

Just got mine together. Built and set-up the ARF kit as per the instructions (except for the throttle cable, I used a spare metal rod for this) and it flew almost perfectly the first flight. I didn't have to do hardly any trim to it. What a plane!
I will definitely enjoy this one.

Its hard to believe mine weighs as much as it does as it simply floats in like a feather. A good idle is an absolute must.

Yes, I agree. I even took 1 bay off the wingtips (6" total) and it didn't effect landings at all. It does roll a bit quicker though, mine is right on 8lbs. w/ a Saito 1.00. I will always have one in my hangar. Almost 3 years and over 250 flights and still going strong. Kind of nice to have a plane that you have to replace the servos and batteries before you have to replace the plane. [8D]
