I am currently building a Maratuka Ju 88 Stuka and I would like some ideas on mounting the ailerons in more scale like manner.

Robart Hingepoints? What is scalelike on the Stuka??

That's a great idea, i never thought of that. I can not get a clear
picture of a stuka hinge but the robart hinge points would be easier to use than the current set up on the plans. Thanks

Isn't this a "Royal" kit made under a different name ?

I did build and fly the Royal Stuka for a time . When that
plane was in the air it drew much attention.

I did the aileron and flap hinges as per plan . In my opinion
they looked fairly good and worked well.

The only problem I had with that plane is that if you
drag a wing tip on landing it will break the tip off the
aileron at the outboard hinge position.

In the 4 years I flew it the ailerons got replaced 3 times

Yes they are one and the same. I built both the old Royal FW 190 and the Oscar and they both flew well.
I just wanted to know if there was an easier way of mounting the ailerons. I hope the stuka fly's as good as the other two models. Thanks for the input.

I can't think of an easier way to get it done

I made a drill jig and went slow. Mine flew well

even though it was on the heavy side.I flew it

with a ST .60 inverted. Be ready for it on take-offs

it wants to fly too soon. keep it on the ground till

you get up some speed.

The only reason I sold it was I'm going into bigger stuff.

Thanks for the feedback. How did the stuka handle in the air? Was it stable? and on landing what should I watch out for? I really apppreciate the help.

Like I said before,keep it on the ground until it
has speed, It will try to lift off too early.

Once trimmed it will fly quite well and be responsive
to all controls. Just don't try to horse it around.
The landings are just the same as any other WW2
bird. Keep it moving ,wings level and it will settle in
nicely,BUT ,that is when the tough part starts.
If you drag a wing tip ,the aileron stands a good
chance of getting broken. This is because the
aileron contacts the ground before the tip.

The landing gear could be a little stiffer but
it forced me to make better landings.

A good .60 is all you need for power .

My Stuka flew much better than I ever expected it to.

Thanks for the reply Roby, I plan to finish my stuka in Italian air force colors. It seems that this bird will land and take off like my other warbirds, you have to keep your speed up.
