Interesting about the balance problems. When I built mine, I added an inch to both the rudder and elevator, and cowled the engine, an OS .61 FX, and with the battery up under the fuel tank, it balanced perfectly without any weight. It flies very nicely too!

How does the Tiger 400 fly? I have one I picked up at a swap meet and am near finished with it...curious how it flies. I have been flying tigers since the original came out in the 80's? Great flyers all that I have had.

Mine flies pretty well! I did alter a few things, such as replacing the landing gear, and swapping the motor to a Park 400 outrunner. When I fly the Tigers back-to-back, I have to remember to keep the 400 in close, as it is easy to lose in the sky!

What changes are you planning for yours?

I haven't decided what I might change. I had thought about the gear as the field I fly from is a bit rough in places. I had also thought about changing to an outrunner as you did, but I haven't been doing electric long enough to really know what would be a good power package for it. I had heard the stock package was a bit anemic.

I have just begun assembly the last few days, so if you have some suggestions, I'm all ears!

I really have enjoyed all of the Tigers I have flown. I have owned probably 5 or six in various sizes...probably the two most enjoyable were an original Sky Tiger with a clipped wing (2 bays each panel) and a piped Enya 60, and the other was a Jr. Tiger (original .25 size) with a piped OS .40 FSR on it...both were HOT, but were excellent flyers!

I anticipate the Tiger 400 being a bit more sedate, but hopefully just as fun!

Bought a Sky Tiger that a friend had for years in his storage 75 bucks and it's all there!

On mine, I use an E-Flite Park 400, 920kV motor, a 1900 or 2100maH battery, and a GWS 9 x 4.7 prop. I don't recall the ESC. The landing gear is regular dural gear that I lightened up a bunch. I put all Hi-Tec HS-55 servos in the plane. I also put a swiveling tail wheel on it, but the skid might be even better.

I must say this thing scoots along pretty well! It's amazing how closely it's flight matches both my Tiger II and the Tiger 60.

I do have a question about how you attached your canopy on the 400...did you use the "tape" method as in the instructions? Seems asking for trouble to me!

Hey there George,

I used short lengths of bamboo skewers in each corner on mine. The skewers are glued into the fuse, and you just pull the canopy open a bit to fit over the skewers. Works a treat!

Nice...May have to try that. I wasn't sure about the tape, and I thought about magnets, but that would add a small bit of weight to add the structure...the skewers looks very good!
