Hey everyone,
I ordered a Mojo a few days ago and plan to start on it as soon as it gets here. http://www.swanyshouse.com/mojo/mojo.aspx
Anyone have any advice for me about building this thing before I get started?
Thanks!!!

I hope you bought the version with the removeable wings. Otherwise attaching the wings to the fuselage can be a nightmare. The assembly instructions leave something to be desired. Consult the profile brotherhood mojo build and perform the aileron modification. This plane is dynamite in a hover and harrier

Get the removable wing kit for sure!! It adds about 6oz of weight, but I've heard it's worth it. I have one of these, but have not started construction yet. I will do a build thread here when I start on it.
If you have ordered the kit, but have not got the removable wing kit yet, don't freak out. Call Paul at SwanyHouse and tell him you need the removable wing kit. As long as you have NOT begun construction of your kit, it's easy to add the removable wing. Once you start building, forget the removable wing. No longer an option.
Most guys power it with a Saito 100.

What size Mojo did you get? The link in your first post is for the .40 size Mojo.
If this is the case a removable a removable wing is not needed unless you have a micro car for transport. Extra weight is your worst enemy.
There is nothing complicated about attaching the wings to the fuselage. Check out the thread "Mojos for Dummies" in the ProBro forum.
The aileron mod (cutting the outside corners of the ailerons) is a good idea. It may save you a small rebuild if your wing hits the ground.
For the .40 size Mojo the most popular engines are .72-.82 four-strokes or .50-.55 two-stroke engines, but a .46 two-stroke will suffice if your Mojo is not too heavy.

The 40 size kit is what I ordered, along with the removable wing kit. My O.S. 55AX will be used for the power plant, runs strong with the stock muffler and the baffle removed. Using a 4s engine was a thought I had, but I do not like the idea of the extra weight. This 55AX pulled my twist 3D out of a hover very well, the Mojo should be considerably lighter, should be GREAT!
I think I will make the wings removable. Seems like it will be easier to transport, and possibly make repairs down the road ( O-wait I dont plan on crashing this one...hehe )
The aileron mod is a good tip, I plan on doing it.
Thanks guys!!

I have a os 50 sx on it and it works great. The problem with putting a wing on when you don't use the removeable wing kit is that you have a split fuselage. The wing and motor mount have to be glued to both the top and bottom of the fuselage at the same time. It gets interesting trying to keep the motor mount centered and the wing squared while you try to figure out how to apply pressure along the fuselage to keep the pieces together while the glue sets. you can worry about the fuselage tube after the wing dries to the fuse. With the removeable kit you can assemble the mounts to the fuselage while you still are on the building where it is easier to work

You're going to love your Mojo!!! I bet you'll put the wing together once then never take it apart. Then you'll wish you didn't have the extra weight. I don't know what you have to haul it with tho'. If you have a really small vehicle, then you need the RW wing. Yes, the Mojo final assembly is tedious, but not that terrible. Just remember that rubber bands, bar clamps, blue tape and a square are your friends... Also, you can step it along to make it easier. Glue the front motor mount top to the fuse top and wing top one time. Then do the motor mount bottom and wing bottom to fuse bottom. Then go along and epoxy the tube to the rest of the fuse with a syringe. It's not bad when it's broken up into sections.

I have a Honda accord that I use for hauling my planes around. i usually like to take 2 planes when I go to the club field. I will take a look before i start the build and see how it will fit in there.
Thanks for the tips!!

I have a mojo with a OS 46 and it has monster power. Rockets out of a hover. The mojo flatspins great. KE is a little wobbly on mine.
I would fly the mojo more except I cant get it in my car easily. I have a small suv and I can only take the mojo if I fold down both seats and nobody else is in the car.
I can fit 2 90 sized plane in the same car. The fixed wing on the mojo makes it a bit of a pain. It could be just the dimensions of my vehicle but its really a tight fit.

The landing gear on my Mojo 40 aparently is metric sized piano wire of 4.0 mm diameter. That is approximately equivalent to 5/32".
IMHO there is no need to change the landing gear unless you are putting your Mojo on a diet. The two landing gear legs weigh 2 1/8 oz. together.

Well this thread finally got me to pull the trigger on a Mojo 40[sm=shades_smile.gif] Had been waiting to see if more ARF'S would get here.
Paul's sending a 40 kit with the wing mod and offsetplates. Planning 6v Nimh, Futaba 3010 servos all around with an HS85 for throttle. 8oz tank to my trusty Saito 72.
Read above about some mods including the "Moass" I don't want to do the fuse lengthing but what are the other modifications? Something about aileron tips?
Thanks,
Pete

The aileron mod is simply to build the ailerons with the tips cut off at 45 degrees in order to protect them from damage in case of unplanned cartwheels. A useful mod as it does not seem to have any effect on the handling of the Mojo.

When I rebuilt my mojo I took off the counterbalances on the elevators. I broke the full sized ones 2 or 3 times. When I had to do a rebuild I just built the elevators straight. I havent noticed any difference in flight. The plans have a optional setup for smaller counterbalances. At the very least I would go with those.

Blade-Breaker,
After seeing a friend at my field fly his Mojo with an OS46 on it, I thought about getting a Mojo 40, building it as light as I can, and putting my YS53 4-stroke on it.
I have to say that my friends plane did recently suffer a premature death while doing a high speed blender, but I'll have to admit, watching the airplane explode in mid air was probably the most violent death I've seen a model airplane suffer!!!. My friend even had to smile about it.
Good luck with your Mojo...
