You won't have much room for a hatch on top.
The windshield takes up most of the space.
Consider going in from the bottom but be sure it is fuel proof.
I'm glad that this was brought up.
I'm not too sure of my mount as I had forgotten to put in blind nuts.
I wound up epoxing in blind inserts and putting in a lot of 30 minute epoxy on the backside thru a small hole.
This will have to be something that needs checked after each flight.

My plans show the CG to be 4 and 1/2 inches back from leading edge of wing. I hope this helps and if it flies good there, let me know please. How about some pics of your Mulligan.

Man that is right on! Thanks. I will take a picture and post it this weekend. Monocoupe is 74" wing, 55" fuse, has a OS .91 FX for power. Looks like an ARF but I can not find any info on it on the web, too little to be Ikon N' WST or Pacific Monocoupe. Looks like it had been stalled about 6' off the ground on landing, broke the fire wall, motor mount, and dinged a wing tip. Real easy repair, just wanted to be dead on abut the CG with the short coupled nose. I know this is not a floater, needs power to land.
Thanks again!

I found the provider of the kit and instructions! I have a Kangke 90A/60 Monocoupe. Glad I found the instrutions becaues the CG is well forward of the models you have. GC range is 2 1/2 to 3 3/4 from LE of the wing. Another forum talks specifically about the Kangke 90A and most report using 18 oz to 22 0z to get the craft to balance porperly and fly correctly. Installng a 23 to 26 cc gas seems to salve that problem.

The Mister Mulligan is a Howard DGA-6, not a Monocoupe. They are very different aircraft.

That engine sure looks sweet sitting in there but I am curious if you have tried slipping the engine cowl on it yet; looks too me that it may be sitting out a tad too far forward. I am in the process of just restoring a Mr. Mulligan I got a few years ago. The fuselage stringers were all crushed so I had to strip off the covering and repair them. I also had to redo the engine box on the front because of the 8 holes that were drilled into it none of them lined up with the G-38 I am mounting in mine.
Keep up the good work and I look forward too seeing more pictures of your build.

Maddog. Glad you like the pics and yes it sure looks good. The original cowl is 6 inches from he firewall. I have a fibraglass specialties cowl that was 8 1/4 inches long. It is now 7 inches long with 1/8 th inch of clearance from prop to cowl. So yes it is abut 7/8ths inches too long. I wanted to give the carb a little more breathing room and that is where it came out to be. I just finished the cowl mounting brackets and I will post some pics this weekend. Good luck on yours and post some pics please.

I finally got the cowl frame built and glassed in and the exhaust tube holes drilled. I had to measure many times to get the holes right before i cut the holes but I think it came out good. I took some pics of for you guys following and some of the hatch to access the rear of the engine mounts.

Yes Maddog. I have been doing a little at a time. I have the fuse all sheeted now and just about  ready for a finish sand. I traded a 1/3 scale balsa USA sop with pup kit for some servos and a 10 meter roll of solartex to start covering soon. I will post some pic soon. Looking forward to see your pics.

Really beautiful Mr. Mulligan you have there Maddog, what covering did
you use and where did the decal set come from?

Seeing yours and moto-x's pics has re-ignited the fires to get me going
on mine again.

Very very nice Maddog. Beautiful covering job. Is it monocote or fabric? I sure hope mine turns out that nice looking. I hope yours flies as good as it looks.

Moto-X, I had to recover the fuselage and I did that with white solartex, the stuff is just great and gives the plane the right look. The wings are covered with white monocote, that is how the plane was covered when I got it. Seeing as there was no work needed to do on the wings I just left them as is; although I may strip them this winter and cover them with solartex like the fuselage to get everything the same; all depends if I keep the plane or not.

GaGeeBees, I like the looks of your Mr. Mulligan but have never seen that kind of script before on the nose; the only script I have ever seen is the one on the original plane; did you come up with that one yourself?

He is probably using the decal set that is made for the
replica Mr. Mulligan that is in th Fayetteville, Arkansas
aircraft museum. It was built by Jim Younkin of Springdale, Ark.

Moto-x, I haven't had a chance to weigh the plane or even set the CG yet. I'll try and get a weight on it this weekend and let you know.

The "Mr. Mulligan" script is really close to correct.

Except the real aircraft had outlined letters, they were two colors. When photographed then printed in books, this gave the appearenceof having a bolder stroke because the two colors were sometimes not obvious.

I've sold over 20 sets of Mulligan graphics, some outlined with the second color, but mostly in solid black. Less money in solid black and still nice to look at.

Nice job on that model. An accomplishment to say the least.
