Hi Ashley great job! I wish I started at your age, you're going to love flying. In an earlier post you mentioned that you were waiting for the plans to show up. Was this plane a scratch build and not a kit?

Hi All,
I just finished reading this thread from post #1.
There is more than a nicely built model in this thread.
The pictures of the kids at work are precious.
It enhances the parents and children relatonship with more than watching cartoons on TV or playing silly games on electronic gadgets.
Congratulations to parents concerned with a better education for their childen.

Ashley and I attended a fun fly today. I maidened it about 30 minutes prior to the event (I wouldn't recommend that for future advise!). It flew straight and true. The only trim needed was elevator, depending on throttle. I have to tell you, I haven't flown in 2 years and boy did it show. I placed way low, but didn't care... it was a great time!
Ashley and I are joining this club and plan to use it.. A LOT! Great people there.
Ashley got a little stick time in today. She has a hard time fighting the brightness of the sky... just something new to learn to deal with. She was given a nice hat and pair of sunglasses to help next time.
Thanks to everyone that pitched in on this project. It was a Lot of fun and I highly recommend it to anyone wanting to bond more with their kids. My daughter and I have gotten much closer, and now we have a common interrest.
It is and was worth every dime and time invested.
You'll propbably hear from Ashley in the future as she progresses.
Thanks again everyone for the encouragement. It is a lot of fun.
Brian
p.s. Final weight is 6lbs. The Super Tiger .51 is WAY more power than needed. Quite frankly, a simple .40 would be completely sufficient. But the airplane is stupid!!! It is not smart enough to know how to land!!! It floats, and floats, and floats, and floats, and floats...... Not a great choice for a fun fly.

That's awesome. I had a chance to fly with my 7 year old son today. First time the wind was light enough for us to get out since......maybe February! He is flying a PZ T-28, after seeing Ashley with her nitro trainer, I think I'm going to get my old trainer down and set it up for him. There really is nothing better than having that common bond with you kid huh!

We decided to build a different airplane. The plans should be here very soon. It is the RCM Advanced Trainer. We have a HB .61 PDP for power and a simple 4 channel Futaba radio.

The Super Tigre is in the picture. Quite different looking than the HB 61. BUT may I say your typing skills are much better than most on the forums!

After flying it, I regretted I didn't have the .60 sized weight in the nose though. Grey Beard suggested I shift some weight to the nose. The floating tendancies may be a tail heavy condition. I will move some onboard equipment under the tank and see what we can do there.

Well this morning my dad and I went flying. I am starting to learn the hardest part which is landing. I was coming in for a landing and I crash landed in the corn, and there is one small hole in the covering. Nothing damaged I am very happy!

Great thread. Very nice looking plane. Hope you are having a nice summer of flying with your dad. I have to start my daughter Katrina and and my son Brent next spring flying.

Thank you Mr. Purcha. I would love to see pics when you can show them. Next year, I hope to fly a Koas when my dad flys his Super Koas!

This afternoon we went flying. Then on my last flight,I was about toland the airplane and it got swallowed bythe swanp monster behind the trees swallowed it up. Two people are probly going to look for it this week, but my dad thinks it is a total loss. When it crashed, I was heart broken the hole way home. SoI am going to build a Telemaster for a second airplane using the same colors- and the big "A" on the tail again. YAY!

I am sad to read about your misadventure.
I am glad however to read that you will build a new model.
Make sure it is more crashproof.
Who knows that this one may be easily repaired.
Let us know when it is retrieved.
