I first started out moving around the hl wheels.....

well, thats not right....how about this....

nope.....the wheel spacing should look like this...

Thats a 45mm spacing...

So its time to start laying out and cutting....

time to turn a $180 dollar tank into a pease of junk....

and time to sniff some glue....

I thought I would look at making the tank rwd....

maybe not...I do not think I am good enough to make a small rear drive wheel....so she stays fwd

whats going in the spots where you left holes
just wondering if doing that has weakened the hull too much for flexing maybe you could have left them whole and just drilled new holes for suspenion

The other peaces and scrap plastic melted into the gaps...then I am going to cover it all over with plastic card.

Here is another E-50 build. Impressing work I must say.

I showed him that link. That is I hope he saw it: http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_10...page_12/tm.htm

I would call this E-50 more of a creation than a build. One doesn't exist (except in 1/35) so it's unexplored territory. I once thought of building one, but after looking over the suspension and it's complexity I decided to stay with what I have already lined up.

That or the E-25 are some really awesome looking German Panzers.

I saw that one( he never finsihed as far as I know) and I saw this one....

http://www.rctanksaustralia.com/foru...=101&t=266

If you think my build is going to be as nice asether of these.....sorry,not going to happen...I am a hack...

I am going touse the hl suspension with the kt wheels with thecorrect wheels spacing. Iam not going to use the "tinnie turret", That thing was designed for the panther 75mm gun. With tanks like the is2,is3, t44, centurenand m26, comming onto thebattle fieldthe panther 75mmgun was out dated. The wepon for the replacement of the panther and tiger 1 would be the kt 88mm and there is no way that gun would fit in the small turret. If you look at the the cut away shots of the king tiger that was in the patton musem...

http://www.peachmountain.com/5star/T...iger_Tank.aspx

you can see there would be no way it would fit( remember, you need room for recoil and room to load those huge shells into the breach).

I'm not to worried at this point, the hull is plenty stiff with most of the holesfilled in....I am fighting a cold now and my mancave is around 30 degeesso I do not know if I will get much done tonight....with any luck I will have all the suspension work by friday. The next step will be changing the angles on the upper and lower armor plates. I am thinking about using panther g forward hatches because they were the simplest to produce at the time.I have not decided what to do about the fenders yet...I am pretty sure the turret is going to look a a smaller version of the e100 in this pic....

Aaahhh ... you'll get there. That's how it's starts out, but we refine our work.

OK, got the hull put back togather....

this after a little clean up...

And a test fit of the suspension to check wheel spacing.....

looks about right imo....Time to pull it apart again and puddy in the rough spots...
While that is drying, time to start on the upper hull.....firstI unhookthe light that the ball mg mount because I have tochange the frontarmor angle to 60 degrees.

then pull off the turret....

and then the cutting....

The light is going back on the new armor plate but the ball mg mount is going away because the e50 wasn't supose to have one. At this point the germans had decided that the ball mg mount was a week point in the armor and thatground troops wereto move forward in apc with the armor for support. At this point Iam thinking I willrun the mg light in the turret next to the main gun...but I have not decided on what mantle design I amgoing to use..

enought posting...on the the hunnydo list....

I have the same kit...I bought it to get the wheel spacing andarmor angles on the hull,,,the sides are spot on with the hl kt but the front armor is 60 degrees on top and bottom. I do not agree with the turret choice. Ordering some 400 motors, dbu3 with a bendi sound card tonight from phil......

OK now, I spent some more time cleaning up the lower hull. Some green modelers putty and some sanding....then I went over the plates with dremmel and a grinding head set on slow speed to try to get some texture like rolled armor plate has....

then some suspension....

then painting the kt wheels....I m using rustolem primer red...

and then the wheel.....

If you nitice, I openedthe spacing on the middle wheels a little for looks...I kinda figured that then middle of the tank might need a lrger boggie tohand the extra weight of the 88....

with a little luck, I cangetsome work done on the upper hull this weekend.....while i wait for some stufffrom phill....

Well I found a little problem that I would not have figured out unless I did this project today.....but more on that later...

I started the upper hull today....broke out my 1:35 model for refernce....

and pulled out the angle finder.....

shows 30 degrees....thats 60 degrees off 90....tht is a lot different than the kt...

Its showing 37 degrees so thats 53 degrees off 90 so the front armor needs to loose 7 degrees from the front.

and adding around 6mm of plastic gets my 60 degrees......Have you seen the mistake yet?
Next I cut the side plates flat and added some plastic to fill in the gap madeby the new armor angles....

Then it hits me.....On the e50, the front armor covers the side plates

the side plates peak through lower front armor but just a little it for the toe hooks .....so my first stab at making the upper and lower armor are fubar....this is very different than the kt...back to the cutting boards.....

Well, got some more work done with the e50/kt .....first thing I did was get the side plates to the same angle as I wanted for the front upper plate......

then i put in the lower plate spacers....

next I temp glued the upper front plate to get the seperation point.....

...then I got totaly distracted....I hate where hl mounts the antena....they even get the antena mount in the right place but they mount the antena on a motor access point???!!!....so i drilled the proper antena mounting point....

then I pulled out the antena mount after unscrewing the mount wire...

then a little filler and a little glue....

next I continued with not dealing with the front armor and started with the hatches....firstsome drilling....

then conect the dots.....with the knife.

and we have a open hatch..and that was the end of the night.....till next time....

I love my KV-85 and am thinking of a KV-122 to go with my IS-2. Great build on the E-50 so far I should do one when work of the other 10-12 projects have on my list.

Oh cool, you too? I have almost everything I need for my KV-122 so it should be interesting on how we each do. The only thing in the way is the completion of this Panther.

I must say though this E-50 build is pretty intense! Alot more cutting and angle changing going on here than I bet you expected! It's looking good and you've gone through some of the tough points already!

This is an excellent build and really shows what you can do with using the Heng long as the base for making a unique or rare piece of armor.

Nice work Scott and fast too, man there are getting to be a lot of guys from Jersey on this forum that are not just tankers but have some skills.
