I think I am going to get an new MT2 in next few hours for about $230. What spare parts
I should get first for regular useage? I am not going to race or bash (purposely). I would like to get enough
spare parts to reduce downtime and shipping costs if possible.
Thanks

The part you will probably break the most are the outdrives. Part #GX12. They are like $5 a pair. There is a post here explaining how to modify the cups to make them stronger.

I know i broke an A arm my first time out with the truck but that was from crashing it at 40 mph[X(]. As Alvin says do the diff cup mod or you will brake them constantly. It's a very sturdy truck and the only time i break parts is when i run it in -30 weather (I'm from Canada) then i tend to break almost all the plastic parts on it.
Good luck

Spur gears- G84307-01 is the stock number, diff. joint cups-GX12, 5x8x2.5 ball bearings, the cvd's are made of a pretty soft metal so you need extras and dogbone shafts, the stock servo's will go out pretty quick, all and all its a pretty durable truck if you take care of them.unlike me LOL. the thing that relly helps is to stiffen chassis. look at the cassis brace threads for help. I've got two a on road and offroad basher and there tuff little beasts.

Modder's post jarred my memory. I would also recommend a brace to stiffen the chassis if you are planning on doing any jumping with the truck. I bought the one from New Era. Here is a link if you want to check it out:

I don't know that i've ever seen actual snow tires for it. However, some people make 'snow chains' for their tires. You can use small chain from the hardware store. Probably just a little trial and error to get something that works. I have also seen where people put screws through the tire from the inside for running on ice. That should work pretty good.
I bought a set of MOAB tires for my MT2. I have not even run them yet. But they are a very meaty tire and should do pretty good in snow. Check them out at Towers here:

I think they are popular with crawlers.

I drive in snow with my mt2 all the time. Being as im from northern alberta i dont have much choice.
I actually use those exact tires on the front and Pro-Line Sand Paw 2.2" Paddle Tires on the rear and i have had really good luck. The paddle tires are a bit bumpy on hard ice or pavement though but work great in the snow.

I use the 645MG. I think it's pretty popular. I see it mentioned a lot on RCU, that's why I bought one. It works pretty good.
Edit - You should have your replacement radio back pretty quick. I sent mine to them 1-2 day USPS and I got it 3 days after it arrived at CEN. Total of 5 business day turn around.

27Mhz AM. Isn't 27Mzh a very busy radio band?

I replaced my tires with proline mahser 2000s with foam and it helps absorb jump impacts and the tires are less than half the weight of stock.

I replaced mine with tyres off the Thunder Tiger SSB truck for the same reasons. The standard mt2 tyre is 235grams wheras the SSB tyre and foam is 120 grams. I get better grip, much less unsprung weight and less stress on the weaker drivetrain parts.

I am still waiting for the radio from CEN. Can't do anything without it...
I believe MT2 use most of metrics hardware and I am interested getting a set of metrics tools just for cars.
Can anyone recommend a good set of metric/SAE tools that will be good for a long run?

I used to buy a lot of Craftsman tools, but I quit shopping there since Kmart bought them. For small and specialty tools, check out Wiha. They have a lot of cool stuff and it's made pretty good. I have a lot of their specialty screwdrivers. Snap On and MAC tools are pretty pricey but good quality. I also like SK tools and they are more reasonably priced. Usually, auto parts stores (not the autozones, find a small town store) have decent mechanics tools but the brand will vary from store to store. Just stay away from the Buffalo stuff.

Actually I think Sears bought K-Mart or a major share of them. Any quality made tool should be fine just try to stay away from the cheap imported tools.

Kmart actually bought Sears. When they came out of bankruptcy their stock price went up about 500% and sears went down 25%. Kmart used that cash for the purchase, but that is outside this forum I guess. Like rolland said, stay away from the cheap import tools and you will be OK.

I sent the brand new CEN radio in for replacement but 3 Weeks later, still no radio.
Called CEN and they said it's on its way but no tracking info was given.
The CEN 30 warranty has expired and I don't even have the chance to start the car.
So will CEN replace bad parts or I am on my own?

Still no radio from CEN, the customer service could not keep their promise and I have to wait a few more day for the radio to arrive.
Not a happy customer and will take my money somewhere else in the future.
