Default Fixing cabane wires to fuselage - Phaeton 90

How do I get the cabane wires to stay afixed to the fuselage on my Phaeton 90? I put them in with epoxy (and the upper plywood hold-downs), then found one of the wires loose (pivots inside the hardened epoxy). I painstakingly remove them from the fuselage and again epoxied the two rear cabacne wires into their channel and let it set up. The next evening, just an easy tug on one of them again had it "spinning" inside the hardened epoxy. What methods do you use to get the cabane wires to become "fixed" in their position on the fuelage? Any helpful hints woul help me move on and stop scratching my head so damn hard onthis item! Thanks so much. See picture of cabane wire in fuse attached.

If they aren't going to be seen I would place another short 90 degree bend at the end that is glued so they drop into a hole drilled the same diameter as the wire, re-epoxy and they should stay put. Also roughing up the metal where it will be glued with a course file may help the epoxy to adhere to the metal better.

Is there supposed to be a clip or something to hold them in? Epoxy only dosn't seem right.

I wouldn't be as concerned about them pulling out from the fuse, rather than up in the fuse. The wing would keep them from pulling out.

Look things over very meticulously in the plans and instructions, you might find something less ambiguous.

I am not familure with the 90 but I have the Phaeton II... On the II the wires are not "glued" to the fuselage.. There is a 90 degree bend in the wires that go into slots built into the fuelage... The top of the wires then bolt to the top wing and this holds them in place.. I am guessing the 90 builds the same way ???.

IronCross is right. This is very similar construction to the Balsa USA EAA Bipe, which I just finished building. There is no need for the cabane wires to be glued in. You will epoxy on a plywood piece on to the top of the one you have installed. This will create a slot for the wire to fit into. You will mount the cabane wires on either side of the fuse. Then the top of the wires will be attached to the upper wing. This will prevent them from moving. The cabanes, together with the interplane struts, will make for a very solid structure. Plus, it's much easier to sheet the front turtle deck without the cabanes in place, then punch a hole for them to go into.

Good luck.

I knew that a little "head jostling" would make it clear for me! I now see that the cabanes do not need to be solidly attached to the fuse, but "sandwiched" between the fuse and top ply cover. Or, I could bend a small 90 degree on the end and drill a hole in the slot, just to help "index" the cabanes in the right orientation. Gee, it is amazing how putting a few more heads together can make a person seem . . . well, topheavy I guess. Thanks so much for all of the help!

... but not always. I just picked up a Papino design 1/4 scale Waco with the wires inserting into brass tubes. I also have the Balsa USA EAA Bipe and know that the wires TYPICALLY are not glued, nor do they have to be. In the case of the Waco, when I lift on the upper wing center section the wires move in and out on their slots. Not much, but it appears enouogh to upset incidence. I find it troubling and will try to find a way to better secure them.

Suggestions?
