I agree with you on the servo issue, after my mods to the throttle servo/linkage which are very similar to yours, I have had no issues...and believe me I have driven my 8ight hard, with some gnarly crashes and big jumps and no servo issues. I bought the servo stiffner for some bling factor...

Bloodrush, It depends on how you define cheap but if your going to spend in the 220-240 range you cannot beat the regular RB S7 (not the WS7III). If your track is short then even a RB S5 will be good. Just make sure you have the right pipe (RB 2020 or RB 2045). These are very reliable, have good power and they last. The fastest motor will only make you faster in a striaght line but often will make you slower overall if your not up to using all the power (many people are not).
Inferno777 remember this car is still new compaired to the others, look how many revisions both the Mugen & Kyosho have already had to them over the last couple of years. I switch from Mugen & do not regret it. I will say that the Mugen "R" that my buddy is running now handles much better than my pro-spec did.

STS D21T is affordable, and it's a pretty good quality, from what I've read.

i'll tell you something about this engine... once you run it and people start seeing how it screams they will come to you and asking you what engine it is... i have been running one last season and i have a brand new one on the 8ight now... it will give any high end italian mill a run for it's money...
at our track we run IFMAR style qualifiers and we drop them right before the starting line , wich is about 75 feet from the drivers stand, i can pick out my engine's sound out of 10 screaming italian mills, these STS D21T make a very specific sound and they will with whatever pipe you put on it ... you will need to run the STS pipe on it or a Sirio EFRA formula buggy ..i had luck with both of them , the STS will give you a bit more mid range wich helps you max the RPM's quickly, the sirio is a bit more smooth..

i'll add another thing in , i actually temped the engine yesterday after my TQ in my pro buggy heat , wich i very rarely do ,most of the times i leave the temp gun at home..i don't use it to tune..i just listen to the engine , anyways , she came off the track at 185 degrees..my buddies STS came off the track at 190..
i don't know about others running these STS D21T's but i found it to be a very cool running engine , i have won and TQ'd races with the temp not even hitting 180 degrees...on a track that is quite a high speed track with lots of double/doubles in it , wich you need to have a good running engine for or you just won't make the 2nd set of doubles..

Does it have good low end, and considerable top end?

i'm very happy with it , and i used to run a modded WS7III on my buggy ... i'm gone all the way over to STS now , i got rid of my last RB engine about a month ago.. i got 3 STS D21T's now... 1 brand new in box, the other is broke in and the one on the buggy has about 3 gallons on it right now...
pinch you say ?... it was 47 degrees outside yesterday and i had to pull out my heat gun to warm the engine cause my OFNA chrometop wouldn't turn it over... (3 gallon engine)

it has an amazing bottom end...i run the black and green springs with medium weight shoes , if it idles high , like when the engine is cold it will grab already... top end on this thing is nothing short of an WS7III , P5 , it keeps up with them on the straight ... i run the exact same lap times as the guys with the high end italians... and on tracks like the farm II , in charlotte NC , it will keep up with them aswell... it has all the internals of a great modded engine, balanced and epoxy fileld crank, modified/cut sleeve ,dish/chamfered piston and turbo head.. dadders on dadders.net said it outshines teh rossi black magic but almost looks identical to it...

Wow.. it IS nice. [X(] Hm.. I could totally get one of those, a SWEET pipe, and a GOOD starter box, instead of the rB.. hah.

I am also considering a 'non-italian" engine for my 8ight-T when ever that comes in. I was thinking of trying out one of the go-tech .21's or possibly the STS in the link above. Both are right around the same amount of $, but the STS looks to be ported quite a bit more aggressively. The owner of go-tech came onto one of the other forums and spoke about his incentive/contingency plan for racers, it actually sounded pretty good to me. Check it out: http://www.racefactorindustries.com/id21.html
He says the engine they are pushing hangs with the best of them, especially with a 086 its insane in a truggy...... He said, not I said, LOL.

i'm telling ya man , you won't be dissapointed with that STS on the 8ight... i had my doubts coming from the WS7III , but i gave the engine a shot last year and fell in love with it... i ran thru 3 of them last year... all of them ran 8+ gallons , and really at the price i can afford to exchange them to a new one ...even a sleeve+piston and conrod is only like $100... i haven't had 1 problem with them.

shameless plug...but www.stsmicroengines.com sells RB modded D21Bs
I've got a standard 21B for my Revo project that I'll be breaking in in my X-terminator, and if my ST12R is any indication, this thing should be gonzo, LOL.

I was ready to drop whatever on another C6 for the T as it supposed to be getting close to its arrival (yeah I know), but I started thinking about it and thankfully I started looking into my $ situation a little better and held off. A few days later my OT was cut, which I have been feeding my habit and myself off of (RC cars and parts, not crack....Although, they cost about the same when it comes down to it) and I wont be getting any more OT for atleast a few months so it was good that I second guessed it. Since then I've come across alot of good info about the STS in particular and some others, I will probably end up grabbing one of the STS's and their pipe also. Anytime I see a post about the STS .21 its nothing but good.

Yeah, the STS D21T looks killer IMO. Thanks for the links claud, and for the info 8racer :P
Use a 21t to lay the smack down on some mp777's @ my local track [8D]

I like that engine. Might be good in the new 8ight Truggy. Except I probably wouldn't buy that Truggy due to the problems with the 8ight Buggy.
I'm now confused with my servo issue. I removed the radio tray and took out the throttle servo. I moved the gears back and forth a couple times and plugged it in just to see what it would do. Now it works perfectly again. It must have been binding or had some electrical problem. I know it won't last but I can't take it back when it works. Now I'll have to spend more money on a new one and I'll end up keeping this one but I can't use it, I don't think I can anyway.
All the setups tht have been talked about and shown I've done with the exception of heat tape. Heat isn't the problem though as my first one went out sitting on the bench with the lid off. Wasn't even running. The LHS techs were helping me set it up. It worked for a few minutes while they made adjustments and then it just stopped. That one I attribute to the junky 270 servo. I wouldn't put that one on a airplane throttle. I am thinking the servo binds against the battery box and possibly bottoms out on hard landings since it sits to close to the chassis plate. I'm going to try and raise it up a little which is what the tray stiffeners are actually good for. But I will stick some heat tape on the next servo and recheck my endpoints, screws, linkage and such like I always do before I run and then hope for the best.
I know horizon blows on this one. Their advice is heat tape, rubber grommets and cutting the spring 1/4, Well DUHHHHH. They read that here and on other forums because when asked directly what they have found out they haven't a clue. Their words today were the exact same as a month ago. Other than that they don't offer a single thing except they'll give me another 270 servo when I return the one I had. [&o]

I am in need of an engine and this one might be the ONE. What sites have these engines for the best prices. Sorry couldn't find it in the threads above. When I click on the site listed by ABU and losi8racer all that comes up is the Zeb something site. My computer @ work sucks ass. Thanks for all the great info guys.

I'm sure they're tired of loosing money replacing all these servos...they'll get it sorted. Until then, my advice still works, as does my throttle servo...

Man, Im going to have to order one of those STS D21T's just for the heck of it and see how it works out. Kinda hard not to at under 200.00. Foamy...are you in the car sales business? you are a good salesman..lol. You have me wanting to go tell all of my buddies to buy this motor!
The cheapest I found the STS motor for is 185.00 on RC Muchroom. Anyone else now of other places that have the STS D21T

I just ordered 2..yes that's 2 STS D21T motors....After some research I have read many good things about them, so I got one for myself and one for my brother (happy b-day bro!). Cant wait to get it and see how it compares. Do you reccomend running it with an STS pipe...and have all of the JP pipes, 1-2 and 3, do these work pretty well sith the STS?
At 185.00 it seems like you cant go wrong...even if the thing blows up after 2 gallons!
I do have I question: Right now I am running a CEO modded Picco P7R and I like it. I have these NEW motors sitting here waiting to be used:
Novarossi Plus 21-7 - HOTT Modded version
Novarossi Plus 21-5 - CEO Modded version
Picco P7R - CEO modded version
And now ordered the STS - I run on a moderately open track, and sometimes on a very tight track...which one of thse motors will make the most power? Which one would you reccomend using for the race season this Spring?
Foamy - quit the sales pitching before my wife divorces me and I have to file BK...lol

Its all personal preference. Run all of them during practice and decide for yourself. I run JP B5's on all tracks, regardless of layout, just because I love the powerband and it fits my driving style well.
I've been through almost every engine out there and I always end up going back to one of my B5's.
