i finally got around to replacing that busted servo case top. while i was at it i pulled the gears out to clean and relube them, and also removed the motor and board to check that out. what i discovered was most horrifying. [X(] obviously i didn't seal the case nearly as well as i thought.

anyone care to run this servo in one of your flyers?

Rusty, Rusty...lol That's is the reason water is capable of ruining anything metal that's not aluminum.

Honestly, do not worry about that. It will still work ok. I don't seal my servos nor will I ever. Even on boats some people dont even seal them.

Just got back from a little shopping. I wanted to get a set of digital calipers for adjusting tie-rods --- Finally found a good deal on them.

Very inexpensive set: 150mm, great accuracy.

Check em out:

Purists would have me reading the ol'e scale, but I can't say that I care about the actual measurement... I'm using it to compare two lengths.

In that case, it's easier to set and forget with the digi

actually it does, there's nothing wrong with it besides cosmetics, and once i replace the case it will look brand new, aside from some scuffing on the wires from the skidplate.

i've heard that some people don't seal their servos, but when i opened one of mine, a bunch of muddy water poured out of the gearbox. lol!

Harbor Freight Tool. I think you can get the same deals on ebay though, if you don't have one around here.

Picked up a T-Rex 450 V1 at the dome last night. All carbon fiber with a Microheli tail set and blade grips, worth $150 by itself!. Nabbed the whole airframe for $100! Came with a bunch of extra parts too.

Hard to believe that there's enough gap on the servo case to get in that much water!! [X(]

Are you going to use it as parts only or you are going to build it up?! Another T-REX! Sweet!
