RE: Kat 40 Dude!!
Got to fly my Kat40 today for the first time, this thing flies great!!! It was a replacement for my EF 540 and it flies as good if not better. Engine was giving me a hard time at first so I only got one flight on it. Once I figured out that a couple bolts on the head were a little loose it was great. Power was from a GMS47, pulls out of a hover in a hurray....Looking forward to get some more time on it.

RE: Kat 40 Dude!!
I know I must of asked this question a million times but could I put a .61 FX on the Kat 40 and have acceptable performance? I just saw AFSalmon post and he said many .60's have been put on profiles with sucess. I guess if anything I can try and if I don't like it I can find a more suitable engine. I would try a 50 sx from the beggining but the thing is I have the .61 already so it'd be nice to use eqipment I already have.
Thanks
Thanks

Ok guys, I have a YS 63 that was in my Goldberg Extreme unitl I crashed it yesterday. It was a good plane, but there was some stuff I didn't like about it. Mainly the hardware and aileron servo location. I'm thinking about getting this plane and was wondering, for anyone with a YS 63 in theirs, if there are any aspects that I should take into consideration to get the plane to balance. I had a Hitec 625MG and a 635 in the tail of mine to move the CG back.

The YS 63 is probably the strongest engine available given it's size and weight in this range. Put that on any 40 size profile and you are going to have a rocket. As far as balance I have not heard of any cg difficulties with that combo as far as setup.

DiabloKid,
I had the same problem with a saito 72. Odly enough a freien did not have this problem with a saito 82.. I placed my battery on the side of the fuse under the hole where the aft servo wires go in. Balenced perfect...get that CG to the middle of the aileron servos you will love this plane.

Tail twister... Thanks I put a saito 82 on my Kat with a 14x4W. Simply an awesome plane, I can hover it until I'm tired of hovering. My best plane yet, I like it so much I may get the 70 Kat.
AFsalmon does the OS 91 work well on the 70 size Kat?

RE: Kat 40 Dude!!
Need a little help...
I have a Kat 40 with a Saito 72. Plane flies great but I can not get it to flat spin upright or inverted. I have full throw on rudder but it seems to always want to roll out nose down. Any ideas?
Also, still working on hovering...any tricks? Do you use spoilerons?
Thanks,
Coolair

CG Middle of wing servos it will flatten out....Need a lot of elevator...try a 3/4 power inside loop with 3d deflections on the second pass when inverted give right ruder then a little right aileron for a cool entry into an inverted flat spin

I have been looking at this plane for long enough. I just ordered two of them. I cannot wait. I have a TT pro 46 and a irvine 46. Which motor do you think will work best? Thanks.

Well my first one just came today. I am still shocked at how nice this kit is. Great instructions ,good looking parts, and this is really a sharp plane. I can't wait to fly it. Hope I can get it finished before the weekend.[sm=biggrin.gif]

RE: Kat 40 Dude!!
I finished mine in a day... I think it went together quicker and better than some of my foamies...
I'm running an OS .61fx a tad heavy, but man it pulls out of a hover!
Weeeeeeeeeee
and the spin rate? Yikes,,, hold on!

RE: Kat 40 Dude!!
Well I finally got my first one ready and flew today. I put a saito 82 in it instead of the tt 46 I was gonna use. All I can say is I should have bought this plane over a year ago. I am glad I bought two instead of one because I will not be flying anything but these for a while. My wife came out for the maiden and even remarked at how nice the plane flew. I am think the second one will have the thunder tiger in it.

RE: Kat 40 Dude!!
I have my Katana just about done and plan to fly it soon. I've read on here to set the CG at about 130mm but the manual says to set it up at 100. Any suggestions?
