Default Engine for OMP edge?

Another question....do the servo wires run inside or outside the fuse for the ele. and rud.? how many extentions do you need?

you can do it any why you want. I did mine on the outside. You need a short ex for both servos. I just couldnt see trying to feed the wires in the tunnel.

Default Servo Tunnel

It was no big deal running the servo wires through the fuse. I have replaced the rudder servo. No problem. Just use a little fishing line. It looks much cleaner when they are on the inside.

I would not recommend doing it before sheeting. It is not necessary, but also it would be a big hassle to work around the servo during the building and covering phase.

Very true. Just a personal preference.

About the wing mixes. I never have used flaperons/spoilerons. I tried spoilers, spoilerons, and flaperons. I agree with you "da" I didn't think it improved any maneuver. Another personal preference.

Default Engine Size Info :o)

I just orderd one of these little ships should be in just after X mas. But I am currently flying a WASP that was wayyyyyy nose heavy so i removed the Irvine .53 and put in a OS.32 SX running a 11-4 prop and I still had to add tail weight to it. But all up weight is 3 pounds 12 ozs. It will hover but will just barely move to pull out if at all. So I am sure good .40 size engine plus will make this plane pull out of vertical like a rocket.

you are gonna love the omp. That 53 is gonna be great in the 540. Is the wasp like a comp fun fly?? I had a 32 in a almost 5lb faser. It would pull from a hover but not that good. Try a 10x4 or 10x5 on the 32. Should wake it up.

Its cold here. Wish the weather would break so i can do some more tail touches!! hehe.

Default WASP :o)

You can take a look at the WASP at www.users.bigpond.com/sirexwasp/ Just another Profile fun fly is all. And I did try the 10-4 prop as well but the 11-4 worked a tad better. The OS .32 is the SX model not the regular one.

And as for weather here it is a whoping cold 61 F at 9:00pm lol

Dream flyer,
You should have installed, or if you still can, install the servos in the tail of the wasp. I built a wasp plus and put the servo's back there. You can put a much larger powerplant up front and still come out under 4 lbs. I'm still trying to decide btw trying the 540 P and some other profiles. Is this one really superior to them all?

Default Thank You Balsa Geek :o)

I think that is what I am going to do . Take the servos out of the wing and put them in the back of the fuse like the OMP. Just relunctant is all after the work it took to put them in the darn fuse lol.

But what is the best way to put them in the fuse cut a single square that both servos will fit and put some hardwood on both sides or all sides for the mounting?.

Well, I built the truss build fuse, so all mine are hidden "within". If you have the glass/plank "sandwitch." I'd cut two holes (one for each servo) to avoid one huge gaping hole. Then put the hardwood for rails only. I did it that way on my fazer.... I'd also mount the "business side" of the servos on opposing sides of the fuse to avoid binding and whatnot.

Also, try a different prop on that 32!! 11 x 4??? thats an awful lot. I'd cut it down to a 10 or even a 9 x 4.

And yes it is the Sandwich lol. But I do not feel I will build like that again took too much time to do so. Next time I will just use sticks and sheeting and save some weight. I was at a loss for words when my WASP came out to 3 pounds 11 oz I thought for sure it would have been lighter. Since I did cut everything lol.. Heck even the ribs have no ribs inside hardly just a 1/4 around the outside and a half inch piece between the balsa spars and everything else is built out of square stock.

They make another 32 besides the sx??? Um....The 540 is framed up with the hole for the servos. I guess you could cut a hole and then wiggle in a piece of stick to fill it up. Then just put a thin piece of ply for the mounting screws. Shouldnt be that hard.

I think I may try to cut out a canopy shape out of 1/8" lite ply feather the edges and laminate over the balsa sheeting. This will strenthen the area where we pick-up the plane and may add to the looks. What do you fellows think of this idea?

When applying ultracote is it best to cover before gluing wings and stabilizer ECT.. or after gluing?

Well the 1/8 inch ply is way over kill. the doubler on the nose is only 1/16. Plus all you need is a little balsa in the frame. Still really light and sturdy.

The covering is a personal preferences thing. I build it and then cover it. Most seem to do it the other way.

OS now makes a OS32SX. the 32SX replaced the 32F. I think the 32SX has been in production for over 3years now. Because I know I have had mine for over 2 years.

The 32F didn't have the remote needle valve and few other minor changes... the older 32F is a little lighter and just a tad stronger than the 32SX from what I have been told from a guy that has both.

But I have the 32SX and I have ran it hard for over 2years, and its still running strong. cranks a 10x4APC at 15,200peak w/ this muffler configuration.

This is the add from O.S. about the two engines.

O.S. .32 SX Output BHP 1.2 at 18,000 RPM Practical Range 2,000 - 22,000

O.S. .32 F ABC Output BHP 1.02 at 16,000 Practical Range 2,000 - 17,000

And what is that muffler ?

I had the sx and loved it. real light and smooth. At the same time i had the irvine 36 and it had just as much hp. Just a little heavyer.

My muffler on my 32Sx is the front half of muffler. I lost the back part while flying. I had the baffle in the box. So i CA'd the baffle on the front half of muffler. It worked so well, gave me tons of power. so I ended up JB welding it to the front half of muffler. I have used it for 2 flying seasons. it is messing, exhaust just goes everywhere.

But I am taching a 10x4APC at 15,000 peak.. That is the same performance that a moosecan will do. But this does't cost a thing.
