I just ordered an OMP 40 size edge. What engine should I use for it? I have an OS SF .46 that I could use. Would that be enough power? or would I have to buy a 50 sx?
Thanks

any ball bearing .40 size will work on this ship. Mine wieghs 4 lbs right on the money. Some are sub 4 lb. Its not that demanding of a ship. run what you brung.

Im using 148's on the ailreons...hitec 225mg's on the rudder and elevator..and a futaba micro servo on the throttle...I use foam wheels, dura alimunium gears...also a spinner...with a apc 1225x375 prop.
An OS 70Fs will increase weight by 200gms. Approx 0.4lbs.

From: Cordova, TN,
Mike, thanks, I think.
My set up is HS-225mg all around. I have blown the motors on both aileron and the rudder servos.(Hitec replaced, no charge.) HS-81 on throttle. Started jittering, also replaced.
OS46fx for power. Had the bearings come apart in a low hover. It stayed running. Got it on the ground and let it idle(like an idiot)and my buddy and I stared at it and scratched our heads and said "wonder what happened?" Took the head off and there were pieces of the bearing case on the top of the piston. Sent it to hobby services, replaced for free. (My fault due to poor upkeep.)
Weight before lead. 3lb 13oz. After 4lb. Will build a replacement next year and mount the engine as per plans instead of upright.
Great profile.
Jess
PS Thanks to WGeffon for resizing these pics.

I can't wait to get mine now.....
Does it fly somewhat like a big plane? is it really stable in high alpha stuff? My pro twister wasn't that great at high alpha rolls...

I'm hoping it will be ready for next weekend. I have a 46FX and a 12.25x3.75 apc for it. I will try the standard muffler and see how that will go.
But I'm curious as to how a 52 OS 4-st will perform on it. I have a 12x6 a 12.5x6 and a 13x4w that I can try with the 4-st which btw is lighter than the 46fx with mufflers.
Anyone tried that small of a 4 stroke on it?. I know all about the 72 saito and what it can do in this bird but i haven't heard anyone talk about a 50 size 4 stroke.

if your going to run a lighter motor than the 46fx you will need to put mini servos in back or put the tail servos in the wing.
I have stock servos in mine and the motor is all the way forward. Im still working on balance. I rufuse to put lead in it.
Let use know how the small 4stroke works. That sounds like a good idea.

the only thing i would do diffrent is put a chunk of wood in the fuse above the wing at the cg. Seems to be where i all ways grab it. Now the sheeting is getting soft there and i can feel it buckle. i would allso put some wood in for the aftermarket landing gear. Even if you plane on using the stock wire gear.
Has any body else notice that it harriers alot easyer with out any mix on the wing???( flaperon or spiolers )
I was having a hard time and tryed it without the mix and it was a LOT easyer.
Love the plane and cant say enough about it.

I saw vr1vrv2 fly his omp edge at propbusters field in memphis,
He was doing harrier rolls about 10ft above runway. And torgue rolling it inches above the ground. I actually saw him T-rolling a stock stick arf inches above runway. I got pictures.
He is one of the best pilot I have seen. Just about anybody can T-Roll a 40%. But it takes skill to get a .40size profile and a stick arf as low as he does.
I am a fan of his.

I plan on using the sf 46 and all standard sized servos (futaba 148s) should I go ahead an put them in the tail? I really do not want to out them in the wing.

ya stock servos are light ( 1.2 oz ) its the more expensive ( read more tork ) that are heavy ( 1.9 ) thats when you get in trouble. I have stock servos in the tail in mine and its fine.

The magnum .46 FSR looks like a clone of an FX .46 http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXBUX6&P=0
