When I start up my buggy, it either hardly starts or starts up and goes insane. Could the plug that I put in there be too hot for the motor/detination? Should I try a medium plug? I bought it used without a glow plug, and I picked up a hot one because its winter, and the guy at the rc shop said I should be running it.
Will running a hot plug make the car rev up like that? thnx
btw my motor is a thunder tiger .21bb

i dont think your plug is the problem.. where is your servo set for the carb ? is it shut or open.. it should be set so that when the throttle servo is at idle position you should see a 1 mm gap in the slide .. thats if you take off the air filter and look inside..
sounds to me its out of adjustment and its either flooded or open..

I said the throttle is at 1mm gap. So my idle screw is in the right place, and my servo is in the right place, all I need is for it to stop reving so god damn high.

Did you reset all the needles back to stock specs when you got the motor? if not, then you should give that a shot. Also, if you're not already, start the car with the radio gear off, makes it easier to manipulate the carb while starting it. As for your plug, I would run a meduim.

Would running a plug that is too hot make a motor run really weird? I don't know the temp either, I don't have nifared temperature gauge. I only run it for 3 minutes at a time to prevent overheating it, Im just trying to get it to run proporly.

ps If Anyone could find the stock specs on my car that would be much appriciated. The motor is a .21 thunder tiger. Its a big block aswell if that helps any.

My 2 cents.
Choosing either cold or hot plug is about how the catalytic reaction taking place that relate to what the manner you tune both the L/H speed needles and how many the nitro content of your fuel is (the methanol content should be the case indeed). I rarely take ambient temperature into consideration for choosing the plug, maybe the climate here at my place is about average and lowest temperature in winter is about 7C. Rather I will adjust the needles according to the climate change upon each race day. However, plug with wrong length may never get the right tuning and make motor running weird.
1mm opening on the slider for idling is more or less an idication about what possible setting it should be. Leaning out either or both the L/H speed needles will cause the motor reving high at idle.
You can still measure roughly the temperature of your motor by spit or water test without the need of a temperature gauge.
Getting known about the factory spec. of your motor is better for tuning reference. But you can still get it running in good order by having it tuned at proper manner so that you can do without the factory spec. I help my buddies to re-tune their messed motor from the scratch of releasing both L/H speed needles to richen side.
Hope this help

How can I tell how hot the motor is with spit or water? What temp does water boil at?
Thanks again, I think its my plug and my weather that are not mixing proporly, im just going to wait it out untill summ,er to start the beast up with a medium plug, and tune it them.

Apply few drops of water or just spit on the cylinder head. The drops or your spit should evaporate only after 3-5 seconds. If they evaporate sooner so your motor is running too hot that need to richen the HSN. Remind that this method just give you some idea on the running temperature but not for optimal tuning.

dip wad you dont dont know either water boils at 212 degrees....his problem sounds like an air leak to me ..check that the carb is seated properly into the block and that the o ring is in good shape and not torn or nicked ..it sounds like it is leaning out..
it also could be that junk thunder tiger motor your running too...folks around my part dont like tt very much..alot of problems with product and customer service......you may consider a new motor
