You may find that you will not need the 10,000 in the center as the Spider setup behaves like it has slightly thicker oil in it compared to the standard center diff.

RE: Official Hyper 8 Thread
Is that the VG you said you have a little over 2 gallons on it? From looking at the head you most be a great driver, as it does not look like it has 2 gallons on it. LOL Nice looking buggy.
I just about have everything to up grade my 8 to an 8.5. All I need is a center diff brace.

RE: Official Hyper 8 Thread
must be the hyper that doesn't flip much .
I have a question, in my Hyper 8 I used to run 7 - 7 - 3 which the center diff was standard, what should I put in my 8.5 in the center? more or less? to make it like it would be 7k? I've just never ran spider diffs.

I wish I could say I was a good driver but I am not and my Hyper flips quite a bit. [X(]
I never ran the 6 spider gear diff but like bentgear said I heard you run lighter with them.

RE: Official Hyper 8 Thread
I read thru the reviews on A-main and alot of people have been saying great value and steering, I just got to get rid of my revo stuff [:@] lol. One person with alot of drive time has told me 7-5-2/3 for the diffs. I am going to probably try this after stock settings.

RE: Official Hyper 8 Thread
FR 2 chassis
Longer center drive shafts (dog bones) for the longer chassis
FR2 center diff brace
Lightened CVDs
Lighten wheel hexes with full covered nuts
Front upper plate that holds the top of the steering bell which is longer do to the longer chassis.
Extened engine mounts (I have the King Headz so I do not need theses.
Front and rear big bore shocks and mounts. (I all ready have the big bore Jammin so I have this covered) I do have a set of the front Hyper 8.5 BB I got off ebay for $12.
Up dated much better radio box. (All ready did this to mine)
CNC front and rear arm holders
I do not care about the 6 spider gear center diff but might try one later.
That is all I can think of right off hand.
I got all my parts off ebay. I bid on many parts a month but only win a few as if I do not get them at my price I let them go. Got my FR2 chassis for $33!

If you only new what I paid for the other parts! Like I said I bid on a lot and only win a few but when I do win I normally get the stuff at a fraction of what it list for. The only thing I need to do the up date now is the center diff brace. Like I said I will more then likely have less then $125 in up grading my 8 to an 8.5.

RE: Official Hyper 8 Thread
I'll go there and ask, I do visit that forum. I've been reading up on this forum though and have seen that you (46u) know quite a bit about the hyper 8. I'm interested in the 8.5 Are the 8.5 shocks bigger than the 8 and Jammin' shocks? Are there spring options besides the white springs that come with the kit? I will also ask in the ofna forum. Thanks.

RE: Official Hyper 8 Thread
All I know right now is they are bigger then the stock Hyper 8 and even the Jammin big bores other then the newest ones that just came out. I have a front set of Hyper 8.5 shocks but have not done anything with them at this point since I have the older Jammin big bores.

RE: Official Hyper 8 Thread
I just tried the stock 8.5 diamond tires at the track today and they worked very very good when the track is super dry, it won't slide at all, but once the track is humid and has traction, they will just push the car.
I love this bug, handles so good =)

What are you 8.5 owners doingwith the center spyder diff....replaceing,craming silicon in it, using the grease that it comes with? How does the spider work on the track?

RE: Official Hyper 8 Thread
Well since it has more gear surface area I have been told you could go a lighter weight then traditionally. You could start out with
3-5-1 or
7-5-2/3.
Hope this helps.

RE: Official Hyper 8 Thread
Shocks will depend on where you run but on the 8.5 right now I have the white 4 hole pistons with 2 holes stock and 2 drilled to 1.5 40 wt in the front and 32 1/2 in the rear. Stock springs. Working good so far. Suspension seems to be working and the chassis staying pretty level. The 8.5 shocks are larger bores than the Jammin big bores but not as big as the super big bores they are currently releasing. Try the spider in the center before you change it out, you may find that you like it. Whiel mine has be completely leak free there are more places for it to leak compared to a stock center diff.
