I have a question for you guys, I was wondering if a hyper 7 tq rtr would be a good buggy for bashing/ some racing eventually. I plan to so some substantial modifications after i get it, but not right away. I am trying to compare this to the PBS version and the ravager/ WHAT SHOULD I GET? thanks

I had this buggy christmass. Its a great buggy and is REALLY durable. I have had a few problems with the .21 engine but there sorted now.. the clutch blew up and i blew a one way bearing. i recomend a start box if you get the car becuase the roto start thing is crap and the pull start will break... its a hard engine to turn over. I bash it on my woods track almost every day and have had no problems other than the other day i landed on one wheel from a 6-7 ft drop... so the steering knuckle broke but im to blaim. Its fast around the track and always takes my friends revo on cornering. It flies through the air once tuned properly and makes a really nice scream as it powers down the road. I havent seen a pbs and dont know much about them but i think there more durable so thats a good thing... and as for the ravenger i dont no anything. So the hyper 7 is great and im going to be racing it as soon as my local (ish) track is finnished. Hoped this helpes... and if you get the tq i would get the CNC steering knuckles and a good battery.
I probably spelled loads of thing wrong sorry but i cant be botherd to read throught the post :P lol

Hey guys...........
I just grabbed a new Hyper 7 TQ sport kit on ebay last night. I AM gonna take the time and read this thread because I have earned with all of my rc cars trucks and heli's......these threads are he place to learn.
Some things I will be looking into.....
1. Suggestions for an engine/pipe....something strong and reliable.
2. PBS conversion
3. Any other knowledge I can suck up to get the best out of this buggy.
I can already see my revo getting jealous.

Ive had multiple engines (.21 and .28) in my 6 buggies over the years and the best engine by far has been the Gotech .21 3port...Its hands down the best bang for your buck.Promise guys.Ive ran an amazing 14 1/2 gallons through my H7 TQ.I have a Losi 8ight with a Rossi Mamba a CEN Matrix with O.S. 21 and a MBX5R with a RB Concepts .21 and do not get the performance or life that i did out of my $130 Go tech .21 ..Also,the 5 port is only $160 and is retarded fast.Hope that helped someone.

There are a couple of things to consider here....
Firstly the RG is not made anymore and has been replaced by the VG which has a poorer nickel coated liner so probably won't last like an RG which was ABC!
For the comparison.....
The hyper 8 port is much faster in outright speed, and can have reasonable acceloration. It has a 3 needle carb which some people find tricky to tune. I have replaced the 3 needle carb with the OS 20E carb (which is the recommeded replacement) and found little difference and now the 3 needle sit back on it with no problems. Some people report the 0-rings perich on the needles, but a cheap replacement is available if you have problems.
The OS is easier to tune and has better low end power but is not as fast by quite a way on the top end.
Its a lovely begginers and hobby grade engine which makes a nice upgrade from the engines found in most RTRs.
I am wary though of this new liner and probably would steer clear of the new OS engine.
They are both cheap good value engines. The choice will probably come down to whether you want lots of top speed or low end torque and easy tuning (not that the 8 port is hard to tune just not quite so easy).
I hope this helps

Dont crash it :P lol its a fun car, flys through the air nicley, make sure you run it in right, and dont use a roto start, it diddnt turn out right for me (struggled... and drill broke it). Starter box is working fin for me, and dont go too high % fuel (ithink its 30% or higher is too high). I use 20% and its fine, nice acceleration and top end. I would get some on road tires if you run in the street aswell.

First off the Hyper is made by Hobao. I would get this one instead and you do not have to wait on a slow boat!

hi guys, i bought a second hand hyper 7 about 2 months ago and havnt had any problems until now. it appears the teeth on the rear diff have been shredded, anyone had the same problem/suggestions to prevent it ? also is there anyway to only buy new teeth rather than a whole new diff ?

You should be able to get your diff gears [link=http://www.nitrohouse.com/catalog/index.php?cPath=30_63_95&&page=1]here[/link]
Shim them correctly and you shouldn't have problems. The hypers aren't known for week diffs or anything.

You can buy a new, complete diff for next to nothing from people who part these cars out and sell them on eBay. Here is one, for example, for $16 plus shipping. http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-OFNA-HYPER-7...3286.m20.l1116
That's the great thing about Hypers....parts are so readily available. Fill it with 3000 wt. fluid and you are good to go.
Because it is small, postage to Australia shouldn't be too bad.
Hope this helps.

PS. Knowing you are a newbie, I should add that when I said "fill it with 3000 wt. fluid" I really meant, fill it about 2/3's of the way up with silicone fluid.
