Hi Guys ,
I want to knowwhat you will use for after run procedure for cleaningche chasis , body and engine ?
Do you use any air compressor ? which psi ? which cfm ?
is it good toclean the engine with wd-40 and then use the After Run Oil ? anybody here use the wd-40!?
is it safe for use it on the plastic ?
anybody here use denatured alcohol ? from where I can find it ? Do you know anything about the home made rc cleaner from CAR ACTION people !? Simpe green (dettol surface cleaner) + Denatured alcohol + wd-40 !?
Lots of questions !!!
I hope some one can help me in this issue...

I have always used WD-40 in each and every RC car I have owned. But before that I use an air compressor which you can find at any gas station, blow up the dry dirt and use WD-40. After you use that just make sure you blow up all the WD-40 with air and dry it with a cloth. There shouldnt be any harm to any part of the car. Infact the screws and other items wont rust up with WD-40.

The method I use is after every run out on the track I first remove the wheels, body, fuel tank and wing. I normally block off the inlet fuel pipe that comes from the tank to the carburettor. Once all is done then I use my air compressor that I bought from Sedan it a 20L tank and does the job very well I use my air pressure at 3 and half bar with a dust air cleaner gun. It has a long tube fitting for all the hard to get places. Then I will use clean green mixed 90% and 10% nitro fuel with a brush to get the rest of the sand off the car. Make sure that you do not get any cleaning detergent in the carb or electronics. Wd 40 is then sprayed on very lightly and then once again with compressed air will remove let over WD 40. It’s a good practice to use some after run oil in the motor to spot the motor from clogging up. One thing I do is to make sure that I cover the air cleaner, or replace with clean one and cover with sealed bag to prevent dirt getting into the carb. Finally see that all screws are tight and replace broken parts if any.
There are many ways but this is how I keep and maintain mine and it looks good as new for every day out on the track.

What M.Lopes described, is the right TLC for your car.
Just don't aim the compressed air anywhere near bearings.
Otherwise you will just blow the dust/dirt into the bearings.
WD40 does make your car looks clean and shiny, however, it does only camouflage the dirt remaining at the parts.
Apply WD40 at metal parts to prevent rust, e.g. axles, turnbuckles, etc.
After run oil, good to prevent rust (nitro fuel does attract moisture) in the engine when not running your car for more than several weeks. Don't insert the drops via the carb (but via the glowplug), since this will damage the rubber seals.

I'm novice at RC and I'm planning to buy a Kyosho Inferno US Sport 2. I found at Hobby Center at Dubai Mall, but I looking for better prices. I would like to check too at Joy Hobby Shop near Lamcy plaza. Could you please somebody send me a Google Maps shot from the exact location?
Thanks in advance!

RE: Dubai - RC Events
thanks, I found it, and I bought a new Inferno US Sports 2!
Everbody are very friendly and helpfullythere,I recommend this shop!
I'm so happy, almost done with the breakin process, but I have a problemat high speed. If gave too much (more then 1/3)throttle the engine stops. What does it mean? Is the mix too rich or too lean? On basic RPM the muffler split lots of fuel.
thanks
Gabor

On basic RPM the muffler split lots of fuel.
Then from idle you accelerate and when more than 1/3 throttle is used, then the engine stops?
Since the engine is still in the break in process, sounds like the mixture is too rich.
Lean the high end needle by 2 hours (counterclockwise) at a time.
Please note that the engine should run rich during the breakin process.
After the high end needle is tuned right (engine stays running when more than 1/3 throttle is applied), then tune the low end needle.
The low end might still a bit rich.
To test the low end, when idling, pinch the fuel line about 2 cm from the carb.
The engine should stop in about 4-5 seconds.
If it takes longer before it dies, then lean it with 1 hour at a time (counter clockwise, screw at the throttle slide).
Good luck!!!

RE: Dubai - RC Events
You're correct fiddler. turn it to the right (clock-wise) to lean it. But I would wait to do that until after about 8 - 10 tanks.
Once you have that many tanks through it, I'd start leaning a bit, but not too much. Running a new engin rich won't hurt it. Most engines need at least a gallon through them before they start to come alive. Only after a gallon do I start to race tune an engine.
Good luck.

Hey Guys,
Long time......
Have any of you registered for the Automodex event in March? They have off-road racing for buggies and truggies......
www.automodex.com
I think there are quite a few guys from Dubdrift entered in the drifting, touring and mini action....
Sure, it is only a one-off event for 4 days, but it could be the start of something bigger....who knows....

Hey cathurga, nice to see you in here mate.
Have sent an email to them asking for more info on the 1:8 scale off-road events.
Will def be there if they intend to hold some events for this discipline. And it they don't, I'll still be there to root for you guys.
Thanks for the heads up.

Now this sounds like fun. Thanks for the heads up Cathurga. Anyone know what time of the day the races will be held? Seems like they start the show on the Tuesday and runs through to the Friday.

Tommy, Revo...
The process is well underway, and you can register on the site! http://www.automodex.com/rcparticipation.php
There are rules and regs for all the classes. The comittee might need a little help on the classes for the buggies and truggies, and nitro stuff because we at the EP side of things are a little stooopid concerning that...I will see if I can put you in touch with the organisers.
If you are not busy on Saturday afternoon, come down and visit us, some of the guys are heavily involved in this event.
With regards to the event itself, it will be over 4 days, most of the RC stuff will occur in the evenings from 7pm....and culminate with the finals on the Friday...so even if you are working, you could come down in the evenings...

Cathurga, did the registration but the website doesn't tell you that you have successfully registered. Will we get email confirmation? Are you the correct person to ask?

RE: Dubai - RC Events
I'll shoot for about 3 pm bro.
Cathurga, is the location already set up with a track? Where exactly will you guys be? I know the area well enough. Can you get in off the road with Spinneys on it or do you need to drive into the track compound from the other side?

Tommy,
Nope, I meant, come over to our rgular RC 'track' in Oud Metha.....we are still in the parking lots, not upgraded yet..but working on it.....
We are near WAFI on Saturdays.......the reason I say come over, is because some of the guys that are behind the Automodex thing are regulars at the Saturday meets....they would be grateful to learn more about the buggy/truggy thing.
Revo, I am not sure yet about the confirmation, and no, I am not really the guy to ask, but I am also keen to find out how many have registered.....

RE: Dubai - RC Events
Hi All
This race event sounds and looks great.
I would love to join in on the fun but I won’t be in town.
Working away in Belgium for 2 weeks and can’t escape.
Hope it turns out to be a great event and get good exposure for the future of the r/c world here in Dubai.
Good luck to those who enter the race.
Take some pictures and post it when you can.
