Last Easter my brother and I bought my nephew (10yrs old) a acme condor pro ($150 seemed to good to be true for a nitro car). No offense to anyone, but it has been a absolute nightmare for us. He shows a huge intrest in the hobby but unfortunately his car is never running. Ive spent countless hours working on it and finally I said I've had it and it is time for a new car. I do not want to sink another dime into it.
After relentlessly searching these forums for the past few weeks we have decided to purchase him a Hyper 7 RTR. The price of $299 is perfect and falls right in our budget. The car seems to get great reviews from owners and for the price it seems to be hands down "one" of the best deals for a $300 budget.
One thing that did worry me in one of the other posts is that someone stated that the vehicle is outdated and soon will be difficult to get parts.
Is this true? because it really does worry me. He is very excited to get one and I don't want to see him dissapointed in a two or three years if I can't get him parts.

I would have to say parts for the Hyper line of buggies including the 7 should be available for atleast another 3-5 years if not more. Look at the Ultra line of buggies OFNA has out, which is the same company that distributes the Hyper, they have been making that line for about 10 years so I dont think you have a thing to worry about............other than the radio and servos
Excellent choice by the way

I had the same concerns when I bought mine. That was 3 years ago and you can still get spares now.
It is a great buggy for the money and IMO the best entry level buggy available for under $300.
There are areas that need upgrading but its not too expensive.
The radio isn't great, get the CNC chassis braces and the hyper 8 CNC hubs (get of ebay) fit straight on. After that its pretty much bomb proof.
A word of advice. look for the .21 engined version, its cheaper, the engine is more robust and its race legal.

It depends on what you mean by out dated. Parts availability should be pretty good for quite some time yet, but there has been alot of buggies that have came out since the introduction of the H-7. That still doesn't all together classify it as out dated though. There are alot of parts still used on current models that are interchangeable with the H7, and there are other buggies that are still competitive that the H7 used to compete with before the H-8/8.5 came along. As long as the H7 is still in production, parts will be around for a while yet. The only thing that worries, cause I still run my Hyper sevens, is what will get dropped after the introduction of the Hyper 9.

why are you guys worried about part support?? how many parts have you accualy broken on the hyper 7? I ran into a curb at full throttle and only broke 4 parts, hingpins, diff case, pin holders, and the chassis got bent, but a vise took care of that

duratrax raze is a better rtr than the hyper 7 rtr{i have them both}the raze comes with a fm radio gear, better servos, bigger engine, cheper parts, better service, exc, exc, for about the same price.i can tell you by experence the hyper looks a little better then the raze, but the raze is tougher and will last longer.just my 2 cents

I find it hard to believe that some one is saying that a duratrax buggy is better than an ofna buggy. I had a raze and it was a very fun car to drive but there was always something that needed to be fixxed or replaced. I can't say anything about the hyper 7 yet. I have one comeing and it should be here wednessday. I'm excited to see how I like it.

He has a point about the radio but otherwise I think thats a VERY bold statement.
It is a well known fact the hyper 7 is one of the toughest buggies you can buy.

Finally purchased the HYPER 7 from Tower Hobbies. Fired it up today and broken it in. This car is more awesome than I could have imagined and my nephew loves it. First run at high throttle my nephew hit a bump and flipped the car end over end about five rolls and nothing broke. Great car and I'm glad I navigated these forums to help with my decision. Thanks everyone.

The Hyper 7 is still raced by many and is so popular you should be able to get parts for years to come. The Hyper 7 is the best bang for the buck and a great starting platform.

I roll a Hyper 7 still. The buggy has all of the fundamentals required for a good track and basher car. Also, if you look at the HB D8 that took the Worlds, it really is more of a traditional buggy like a Hyper 7. Bottom line, it is 95% driver. I bet top drivers could win big races with a Hyper 7 if they ran it. There just hasn't been that significance of change in the buggies in the last few years to say that the Hyper 7 is outdated.

Eh, its not exactly "out dated"... but according to several people in this world, it is. As stated before, its a rock solid buggy, it has been pushed aside since the hyper 8 and 9 came out.

I just bougt a hyper 7 and have taken it to my tracks that are by me. I have ran almost a gallon threw the car and have only broken is the pull start. 75% of that gallon was running it at the track the other 15% for break in and tuning.... The track runs have been by far impressive Ive been able to run almost the TRACK RECORD for lap times. (its a small local track not any pros and just some normal drivers, But I am also a newb to the hole racing thing.) Thats almost out of the box (Tune, electronics, EVERYTHING) I have hit 12FT tripels and a huge 17ft dubble get around 5 ft of air and I have landed everyway and havent brokin one thing! AMAZING!!!!
I have a 8ight pro roller sitting in the garge just need engine and a transmitter/reciver, and have thought about selling it and just racing the H7 just cause of how stable strong durable and EASY it is to drive and maintain.
ONE AWSOME BUGGY!!!!

LOVE them Hyper's. I have wrecked my 8 and 8.5 every way possible more times then I can count and broke VERY few parts. One time I came off a big jump and nailed a price of re bar that was suppose to be holding the pipe head on and it never missed a beat.

Yes it came with the 21 engine and it rips. Took it out today and learned even a little bit of mud is noooo good. Kept getting packed up in the rims and jammin up the wheels. Had to put it away early and it definetly needs a good cleaning. Tomorrow I will be installing a fail safe and it should be all set.
