well I did wanna get a tuned pipe and header. What do you guys think would be the best pipe and header 2 go along with my O.S. 18TM? It needs 2 be a right side exhaust set up.

the OS 18TM won't work. It is rear exaust, so your header will hit the rear upper chassis plate. You need the OS 18 CV-RX with rotary carb for a direct fit engine.

Well I have a few questions about the Smartech buggy as well. I also own the winner sport and Its not all that bad. Its a great project car. Thats the reason I got into the hobby anyway. I would rather build it up myself rather then buy one for 500 or more $

Anyway my question is, Will I be able 2 fit the O.S. .18TM in the car and what other things should I change about the car? I am already looking 2 buy better shocks. Also should I change the clutch, flywheel. and clutch shoe or anything else. What is a good failsafe that will fit in the car? I am also just learnig. I know a lot about cars so I look at rc cars in that aspect just on a smaller scale.

CAN NE 1 HELP????????? THANKS.

hi Doc P

I got a Q about this OS engine. Will it be a direct bolt on or would someone need more accessories to fit the engine i.e. engine mounts, manifold gaskets, Just curious to know the pattern of the complete swap.

Thanks in advance for your help

Well by looking at some of the specs on the engine it does looks like its gonna fit. I know the O.S. 18 CV-RX will fit. The only thing about the O.S. .18 TM that you may run into some problems is with the crankshaft. Its an easy fix tho. Just get a new crankshaft. That is what I have been told anyway. If anyone has anything diff feel free 2 let us know.

I think clockwise turns the idle down, but just look at the barrel opening to make sure. Also check your throttle trim to make sure the the servo isn't holding the barrel more open then the idle set screw.

The OS 18 CV-RX is a direct fit. You can use the motor mounts, header, clutch, flywheel etc.... from the smartech engine and put it on the OS.

well, the OS is an awesome engine and makes a ton of power. They start right up and hold a tune forever. However, you will be transferring addition power through the drive train, so if you womp on the gas you run the risk of stripping your plastic spur gears or breaking dogbones.

I really liked the Smartech engines. I had 3 of them and never had a problem with any of the engines themselves. Only had a OWB in the pull starter die on me. Other then that, I liked them. They were a little low on power compared to others, but they ran great.

tweak your idle screw and throttle trim to a little less than 1 mm and see what happens.

Well you said it wont fit the O.S. 18TM because its rear exhaust and will hit the rear upper chassis plate. What if I were 2 buy the header that fits the engine and is horse shoe shaped so it will curve around and I can have it as the right hand side exhaust set up that I need it 2 be?
