I have reciently machined new alumnium a-arms for my buggy, because I was found the plastic ones to break fairly easly, but am now starting to worry that with such a strong a-arm, that i should make a new center piece that holds the a-arms. I was thinking while I was at it it wouldnt be any harder to make it about 1" to 1.5 inches wider. Has anyone tried making the buggy wider by doing this, and is there anything I will have to do besides using longer dogbone?

I think you might have to make a new steering part aswell, the one that connects the two wheels to the servo saver. dunno what its called.. been thinking of doing the same but havent had time for it yet. work as a welder and perhaps if im lucky a guy at work can cut some out with the laser cutter. time will show

Thanks for that Anthil. I'll give it a go too when we get it running again. The parts arrived this morning but no one was home so I need to go n fetch then from the post office tomorrow morning [>:]

Had a look at those racing shocks last night, they look very good. I take it you upgraded because your's were less than adequate?

My son's desperate to get this thing jumping, I'm thinking it might not be able to withstand it on standard shocks??

Cheers

Chris

I would be more worried about the a-arms then the stock shocks. I went over a 3 foot jump on the weekend, and it seemed to have a nice landing, however I broke both sides off over 1 jump. I did also bent the front shocks, but was able to straighten them out fairly easily.

I would be worried about the main gears in the tranny. Since these buggys don't have a slipper clutch, I kept stripping out first gear in the tranny from going over jumps. [:@]

I dont think alumnium a arms are overly common, but I havent really looked around a whole lot, I had mine cnc machined here at work

Can you get a metal main gear for these buggies? I havent had a problem yet, just trying to stay ahead of things. I am trying to get all the bugs ironed out of it before spring.

Joe, I was actully thinking about making a few diferent suspension parts to sell, because it seems to be hard to find quality parts anywhere for these buggies. if I do I will let you know.

Upgrading to stronger parts means the next part in line will be more vulnerable to breakage. Once you have converted all parts to aluminum, your car will take more abuse, but breakage will begin at some point at the same parts for the same reason.
Remembr, don't hit any solid or fixed objects! And jumping? Well, we've been over that: Self-explanatory.

I got my buggy back together minus the front dogbones, since the universal-joint pieces were discontinued or something... So, I went ahead and removed the front diff, since I had it all apart anyway. Put it together again, and now I have no throttle/brake servo! Nothing! I ordered another one from a Traxxas Revo (high torque) off eBay. No idea what killed it. Hope to be running again in a few days.... In the meantime, I will just have to go fly my Storm Launcher. I got two extra battery packs (with chargers) today, so now I have three for close to an hour of fly time!

I think they make upgrade main gears for the acme condor with stronger plastic gears. I think a metal gear would wear down the clutch bell gears.

i have been doing a lot of jumping with my buggy. luckily i haven't broken anything. i dissembled my diffs to see if the gears were getting worn out...nope. everything is in good working order. my main gear is starting to get a little worn out though. does anyone know one that will fit? is it because i don't have a slipper clutch installed? is there a way to make 1 fit? i imagine it would be like a ball diff gear with 2 plates on each side where the tranny is. i dunno though. just speculating.

no say you are on 27.250, the oly reason another crystol will interfere is if there is another 27.250 on. if it it a 27.650 it wont inter fere

Joevirus, I have a pump similar to this one:
http://www.shop.com/op/~CEN_Racing_P...9?sourceid=298

It works great for me! I bought it at an RC aircraft hobby store. It only cost me about $10, if I remember right. Check eBay for them.

You insert the suction end of the pump into the gallon of fuel, and the other end into your car's tank. Turn the manual crank until you feel resistance, and you will have flow. It is a very fast and clean way to fill up your tank.
