you can give it a shot. I personally would be worried about the clearance I labelled in the image below. I don't think there is enough room for direct fit, but you might be able to mod something to work.

look under this message on the left side of the page, there is a button that says, "post reply" - hit that - then the message box will say "upload image files"

the os 18 cv-rx is a direct fit. the TM wont fit. my smartech has the cvrx. it is modded to the extreme. i have hpi gears, tuned pipe, high performance header, ofna fuel tank, ofna failsafe. hitech, futaba, and airtronics electronics, along with many custom machined parts.

all my parts came from the LHS, or i machined them. almost everything took modifications, accept the motor. direct fit. the 18 will make the car go as fast as you would ever want. plus i dont think you would be able to make a .21 fit.

Hey Doc

Thanks for the great info in your reply. I have another Q about this O.S Engine. Is it possible to add a direct drive to start the engine in place of removing the pull starter.

Thanks again.

What do you mean, you want to use a starter box, or a roto start? I am almost positive you can get a roto start for it, and I know you can get a Sullivan tiger drive for it. Roto starts require a new backplate, roto drive, and roto starter. Tiger drives come with the backplate and drive, you just need a cordless drill and a bit.

You can get a starter box to work, although I am not sure which brand.

Hey Doc

Thanks again for the point in the right direction. FYI, I just called Sullivan and they do not offer a direct drive for ANY .18 engines. They do however; offer the direct drives for the .15 engines. Do you know if the .15 and .18 engines have the same external physical charastics? I know. I'm really asking a huge reQuest with that one. I was just curious in case someone has done the mod to their buggy.

Thanks

I am surprised Sullivan would say that. I am 99% sure this one will work! .15 and .18 engines have the same block, different bore.

You should find a LHS and check to make sure it fits, I don't want to steer you in the wrong direction.

So can anyone tell me why the os 18tm wont fit on the smartech winnersport? I know the CV-RX is a straight drop in but I really wanted the 18tm. Is there really much of a diff between th cv-rx ant the tm?

if you are a machinist like me maybe its worth a try, but why bother? the cvrx is already too much for the car.
