Hi! the stock engine i found to be crap compared to the os engine. remember that if you have a two speed car you need an engine with a pilot shaft - os cv-rx (p) As for exhaust use smartech polished header and pipe from a speedy tiger 2, nice sound and looks sweet improves performance compared to smartech plastic pipe.

Im thinking about getting a os 18 tz for my buggy, 1.8 HP compared to the cv-rx 1.35HP. It will fit but i need another type of header as the tz series have rear exhaust. would be fun stripped my tranny gears yesterday... cant complain though, they kept up for 1.5 year so its ok. cant play with my buggy until i get parts...

Hey guys thanks for the advice i think i will go for the OS 18 CV-RX i will not need to get new exhaust as the one i ordered has a side exit exhaust but i think i might get an alluminium one in the future. I have also ordered some alluminium hop up parts! =]

If you guys could give me some advice on fitting the new engine into this buggy ie: if i need to buy anything for it to fit or if it is a direct fit that would be great!

thanks

good news sam! its a direct fit. you just need to remove your old engine and take the parts you need from that (flywheel, clutch, header and engine mounts) mount these on your new engine, put the engine on the car and start breaking it in. break in instruktions comes with the engine if you buy a new one

No hop-up's yet, nothing broken yet and have had them for almost a year now. The wheels and tires are from an old car I had way back in the day.

did you switch to M-3 tapped holes? thats what i did for mine. i have machined so many parts for my buggy since my aluminum arms. i still use the stock plastic ones, because i haven't broken even one.
sammiller123,
what aluminum parts did you order?

the only reason why the wheels dont turn when its no moving is because THERES A SERVO SAVER THAT STOPS IT

Docphysics, dont take me wrong, I usually agree with most of your posts, those servos look to good to be true for a reason, If you look at the specs, they look to be better then my servos, but they arent. they wouldnt even turn the wheels with my buggy stopped, again maybe I bought lemmons, but they were both the same. I am sure your servos are probally a much better brand then these ones, or much better built I should say, maybe not the torque rating of these, but that torque rating is false, and they are far from hi speed. When my smartech servos were working when the buggy was new, they were every bit as good as these. another servo to stay away from is blue bird, they work better, way better then these, but the case is there problem, they wont last that long, but imo they are a much better servo then these.
wouldnt even turn the wheels with my buggy stopped..........well never ITS GOT A SERVO SAVER ON IT

Ok, I am confused, what are you talking about? I have 4 rc cars now (3 with servo savers) and they all turn easily with being stopped. A servo saver dosnt stop the wheels from turning, none that I have ever seen anyway

am I missing somthing here? I guess I could be wrong, are you saying there is a interal servo saver built in that servo, that would stop it from turning with the weight on it? that would make no sence to me to have a high torque servo, that wont turn when the torque is on it. the car probally only weighs about 4 lbs, I dont think a servo saver would stop the servo from turning the wheels. this servos specs should be acceptable for a 1/8 buggy, which is far from the case. if you dont believe me, try it out.

Anyone know of a possible upgrade for the tranny? I stripped out another gear today and would like to find somthing like an aluminum one i could use, the nylon one just doesint seem to hold up to the os engine.

I've had my smartech vanguard for about 9 mths, all i've had is trouble with it. The pull start snapped, A front wishbone snapped and i've had 3 clutches fitted to it. The engine throws out oil all over the car, if i lean it off it won't start or it idles rough. And the most recent problem is the engine revs but the car barely moves at full throttle.

I'd not recommend this car to anyone.

Neil.

Hi all!! This is my first post so please bear with me!! I'm considering buying a speedy tiger in kit form from ebay [link]http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/New-self-build-unbuilt-nitro-radio-controlled-buggy-kit_W0QQitemZ330184838231QQihZ014QQcategoryZ19168Q QssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem[/link]
I'm on a tight budget but would really like to move up from electric to nitro, I have been using electric for 20years off and on and have always wanted a nitro since they came onto the market however the price has always been an issue. So recently scanning ebay I came across the speedy tiger and after a fair amount of reading on this car I can't make my mind up?!? They are cheap on one hand but have poor quality parts (which for the money I guess is to be expected) they break for some and work well without much trouble for others?! My other reason for considering the speedy is that for the money I can't seem to see a better kit?! I'd much rather go kit form as I'm fairly methodical and I wan't to learn the car inside and out rather than buying a rtr. Also it seems that the speedy is fairly compatible with a range of parts/upgrades(though please correct me if I'm wrong) If anyone would be kind enough to help I would be extremely greatful Thanks in advance!!!

Its actually kind of a pain to get parts for it. If you want cheap, I would get a used duratrax nitro evader off of ebay. They are cheap and parts are abundant. I think they are also more durable than the speedy tiger.

Go to Tower Hobbies and look up the DuraTrax Raze. It is a quality version of the Vanguard. I have a Vanguard and love mine, of course after testing part after part, ordering parts from New Zealand and so on. The Raze is a direct fit for all parts and they are of a much higher quality than the stock Vanguard. Also, think about a Surefire .32 engine. It will make the buggy scream. If you view my profile you will see my Vanguard. If you have any further question please ask. I have had mine for almost three years. If you follow my instructions you will also love your Vanguard![:-]

Hey man you can get the winner sport body shell from a shop on ebay called blacksmith products. You can get everything there for the winner sport. There is a list of all the spare parts on the shop, you can just type in the code for the part in the manual and it comes up. I have just ordered some new grub screws for the transmission as one popped out at a club meeting =[ lol. Anyway yeah they are a really good place to get all your smartech spares!
