Can anybody help me ???

ORIGINAL: jbrown12

Hi Guys,

I'm new to nitro rc cars, I have a smartech winner sport. I have had it for about a year now and haven't had too many problems with it. It has been running fine and I have been happy with it. But just today I started it up and straight away it revved up to full throttle and would not stop. I had no control over it and I could not stop the engine...I eventually stopped it by turning the adjustment needle.

I hope you guys can help me.

Thanks

Jake

Hey JBrown I'd help if I could but I"m a total newbie. Sorry

I do have a couple other questions. Do they make aluminum shocktowers for smartech, or could you use another brand?

also - what are hop up? Sorry for the newbie question, but I hear people talking about modifying these things etc and so on, but I hear people continue to say there are no hop ups. I guess I just assumed hop ups are anything you can do to improve the car.

Hi all you new people hope your liking your smartechs!

JBrown12 - well your engine did that because your electrics were either off or low. Also the best way to turn your engine off is to block
the air intake, and if that doesnt work, then you remove the fuel line. Because you changed your adustment needle and the
youve probably havnt put it back correctly, it will be running rich = white smoke out of the exhaust.

Jez83uk - Yea the parts have greatly improved, I can crash without breaking anything :P

Killme - well I havnt crashed but.... :P

Your shock tower can be fixed by bending it back. And i dunno if the engine is a direct bolt on, but you could buy the
engine and try, if it doesnt then send it back. O yea killme, is your smartech rotostart? if so how much and where from

trpastor - mmmm mud

With hop-ups, yea any midification you do to your buggy is a hop-up, some are good, some are bad. I dont think there are
any direct offical smartech hop-up's but most things will fit on an rc car, some bits just require modifications to fit.

Well after that heres mine -

My Speedy Tiger will often times feel like it's going to take off when i start it up... once backwards even, explain that, haha. I find that when i stop it (using the finger over the exhaust hole to do so) and reignite it, it's back to normal. Not sure how healthy that is but it seems to work more often than not. Hope it works for you as well.

Ryan, i was being facetious with the "it's easy." comment. No offense i hope.

Hey trpastor, I don't have a rotostart on my car. I still have the stock pullstart. I realy don't think this car needs a rotostart. It looks like you have a nice winter project though. I once had to install a new chasis after i smacked in to a curb. It gave me the chance to know that car inside and out.

no lol, And backwards :-S Was it you that had trouble with the pull start? If so, when you put it back on did you put the 1 way bearing in the wrong way round, so its turning your engine the wrong way round? but if it works to cover the exhaust - do it :P

Thanks for the advice Ryan, my winner sport now runs.

Does anyone know of a good air filter that will be a direct fit for the winner sport?

What about this one on www.raidentech.com part #40116

Thanks

Jake

Probably but it depends if its a 1/10th air filter and not a 1/8th air filter.

Well, With new engines you normally dont get a flywheel or a clutch with, you get everything else. But then there are some engines that dont include a carb. The problem is that .15 thing might not fit on a .18 engine. The .15 carb wont work on the .18 engine coz an .18 engine needs more air than a .15 carb can give. As for the flywheel, 1st of all you need a flywheel tool.

I got what was described as the winner sport 3. I think it is 2 spd. I found the gear online and it looks like what i have in there.

Another question though. HOW on EARTH do you fit a failsafe on this thing? There's no way I can imagine that it will fit in the receiver compartment. And you want it to be in there becuase of water, don't you?

SHOOT, I'm sorry to bug everyone but I have a couple more questions. First of all, I got some 20% traxxas fuel from the LHS. is this not going to be good for breaking in??

Also - I'm trying to go through the posts agagin and find the best overall procedure for break in. Anyone got any last minute advice on this particular model? Adjust screws before I even start it or start it and then adjust screws?

Thanks

u can put the failsafe anywhere, and just put it in a small plastic bag thing to protect it

OK - am I just mentally feable, or is it almost impossible to get the receiver compartment closed with even just the receiver in there??

Are all nitro cars built like that (with very little room) or is this exceptionally tight?
