you mean fireworks flying out of the engine or attaching fireworks to the buggy? Both will make it go faster - for a few seconds.

well well well!
what a day!! took out the buggy again, was running a little slow but then I sorted that with a bit of tuning and generally warming it up!
the grass was too long so I took it to the greatest place EVER!! SKATE PARK!! was so fun, it was wet and the ramps gave me some good air! pulled off some great tricks......then it stopped, I havent totally worked it out yet, haven't had the time but hopefully I just need some new batteries for the car. The problem: the car would not accelerate at all! steering worked but the first servo thingy wasn't moving, thought I busted it but after a little rest it worked for like two seconds, so I'm guessing it's just the battery....the weird thing is, is that it doesn't seem quite so simple...it's hard to explain! [&:]

oh! and ronnydobbs, I had the same problem earlier too, it normally changes quite quick when I get it going but it just decided not to today! no idea why! maybe I didn't get it going for long enough.
I'm not really that good at this stuff yet so I don't know how to help you.....just thought I would spread the 'joy'! but good luck!

+++does anyone know where to get road tyres? or even if you can get them!?

thanks

mostly ran my engine in today on my acme condor, couple of questions

it's starts pretty well but rolls along on it's own at about a walking pace and when i put the brake and stop it it stalls, any idea what can be causing this? a friend tried adjusting the idle but it either rolls or stalls.

also when the engine is running without me giving any throttle it sounds quite rattly it quiets down when the throttles on, my mate runs a tamiya nitro thunder and compared to that it seems loud. is this normal?

thanks

Hi! You could try to adjust the low speed needle and see if you can ceep the engine going a little longer on idle. you should be able to get it to run for at least a minute on idle. Then your low speed needle setting are ok. Improves performance as well!!

I would just like to recommend you some other servos than the futaba ones. Im sure futaba works great but theyre expencive!
I bought a couple of servos from rcmart that works great and theyre cheaper! The brand is REDEVEX and i think theyre called 620... They come in both metal gear and plastic gear version. Made a BIG difference on the car!

Happened to me also, do you have a failsafe? If so it's probably your batterys. The failsafe is made to go off if the batterys get too low. Hope thats all it is.....

wienersport:
where did you get your tyres/rims from?
I need some road tyres!

Phanntom:
Unless the buggy came with a failsafe as standard, I don't have one....but for some reason it's working fine now and I din't even change the batteries!

Cheers! [x2]

Gave my condor a bit of a thrash after i'd run it in and am loving it.

now the things that went wrong

clutch bell is trashed, a chunk broke off and a crack appeared, manufacturing defect i think so have ordered a stronger steel replacement from ebay.

Lost a grub from the front drive shaft so didn't have drive on the front wheels, didn't notice til we went inside but was pulling some awesome donuts in the meantime
(luckily my mate had a spare)

bit of a bend in the front strut that holds the top on the shock (i'm tellin ya that curb jump out in front of me...honest guv'nor) just bent it back so no probs there.

all in all think for just over a hundred quid it was well worth the money

Quick question regarding the clutch shoes, there seems to be a bit of play on them which i think is due to ill fitting springs and as the buggy like to roll off on its own i'm thinking that the clutch isn't disengaged properly when its idling ,i read somewhere that this seems pretty common with the aluminum clutch shoes, so the question is is it possible to either get replacement springs or better quality shoes (either acme or a compatible)?

Another cheap clutch mod is to cut two windings off your clutch spring and use the loop that is left on one side and loop it through the last two windings on the side that you cut, thus making the spring 4 windings shorter, and much stiffer, and will prevent that early clutch engagement, and doesn't cost anything.

is that adjustment for a circular spring? on my clutch there are 2 springs one on either shoe, it doesn't appear to be like the diagram in the parts list

Ped90: My wheels are HPI superstar MT wheels with tamiya stadium racer tarmac tires, works great on tarmac and pavement! They do need a stronger servo though.. since theyre wider. Bought them from a local vendor but they should be available almost everywhere.
Naturefreak got some other road wheels (page 57), check them out or visit your LHS to take a look whats on the market. Just remember your LHS will charge you twice as much as a netshop.. Hope this helps! have fun with your car!

yes, the stock smartech clutch shoes are junk. I melted mine 2 weeks. You won't have that problem will Aluminum shoes.

i think the ones that came on it are the upgraded one they are aluminum and have 2 V type springs. i'm thinking the springs don't have enough tension on them but haven't got a clue where to get replacement springs. when my clutch bell disintegrated it left some scoring on the shoes so will probably want to replace them at some point and figured it might be worth upgrading the clutch shoes for a better quality set possibly by a different manufacturer

not sure if anyones already listed this but it's a great store for acme parts in the uk [link]http://www.sriremotetoys.co.uk/[/link]
