how many people among you have experienced torque twist in any of your cars....
on my truck its so bad that when i gun the throttle , the left side lifts off the ground and the car veers left... it has a locked rear diff and a open front diff, and you could actually see the front left tyre balooning while the front right tyre stays in shape, because the left tyre is spinning freely in mid air but the right tyre is firmly engaged to the ground...
does this happen in full size cars as well? i mean, like i have a driving game on my computer and when the cars in there are in idle gear and you keep revving the engine, they rock side to side, does this have any basis in reality, could it be the same thing?

When I stuck a .21 in my T-Maxx it would flip over backwards, then I put a wheelie bar on it and it bent the wheelie bar[sm=48_48.gif] That's my definition of torque twist
But no, I haven't had any chassis flex.....yet.

the only way your car can twist is if the motor sits front to back.like on a tc4 and most shaft cars yea that hapens.if one of his tires are coming up before the other somethings broke or not adjusted right.unless it is 4wd than thats normal but it shoouldent do it to much.what i do is set the car on the edg of a table and lift the front end and make sure both tires come down and touch the table at the same time.same for the rear.

thanks for the reply guys, theres just one thing i forgot to check before i yapped on in my post.... the motor's turning direction doesnt make sense at all! the motor itself is turning clockwise viewed from the back, which doesnt lend itself well to having the truck also turn clockwise , it should have made the truck twist the other way, so yeah i think ima gonna try out new diffs or summat and see if that fixed the problem
but its interesting tho, are there really cars , where the motor either faces the front or the rear, when you accelerate hard enough you can cause the entire car to twist clockwise or counterclockwise(imagine holding a motor freely in your hand and suddenly giving full throttle)... it happens to onroad cars or something?

watch a lot of the modified muscle cars for drag racing. when they take off the line the car will wheelie and you can see the whole chassis twist to one side... so yes, it is true

alsO if you have a powerfull front wheel drive car they do something called torque steering. and about cars rocking from side to side when you rev it, yep it happens.

I have a pretty noticeable case of torque twist with my e-maxx/revo hybrid truck. It has a modified suspension though. It has a custom 4-link suspension and these are known to have torque twist. Basically, we combat the torque twist by getting the center of gravity as low as possible and standing up the shocks as much as possible. You can see a picture of my truck in my gallery. You can go to www.rccrawler.com to see many many articles about torque twist.

I have never seen or even heard of this. I can't even think of how it would happen as these engines have very little torque and rev to the moon.
Even in full scale it is not possible to lift one side of the car up from engine torque. Plus the suspension absorbs any of this.
Do you have a video of this occuring?

This is what we are talking about. It has nothing to do with Wheelies.....

its 100% posible for full size car to do that its from the tires when they grab the pavement really good even full size cars will do wheelies but when the frame is not renforced it will twist heres a van doing a wheelei but the frame did not twist

Thank you but I've seen many cars do wheelies before. We are looking for the car to torque twist causing one side of the car to completely lift off the ground. Not a Wheelie!!!

yeah i gotta admit, it does lift off the ground but its not due to the amazing power of the motor ... truck weighs too much compared to the motor plus its twisting the same way as the motor's rotation!makes no sense at all... in fact its due to an uneven torque distribution on the front diffs causing a steering effect , tipping my truck over because its effectively accelerating to the side
but-- i am about to put a new front diff in, i'll see if this phenomenon occurs, if it does it will make my truck lift the RIGHT side, not an impossibility and i shall be on the lookout for it (gonna try on low/high grip surfaces, different shock configurations, etc etc) , if my truck was filled with carbon fiber or graphite surely it will be easier to spot
sorry for the confusion , i shoulda looked more closely at my truck before i posted! [:-]

Try a stiffer spring on the right rear. this is what full size Drag racers do. It also works on RC. If that doesnt help then you have something broke... This type of Torque twist happens every day at the drag strip. Uni-body cars are known for this problem. This can get so bad that the car will shoot into the left lane . When I first got my TXT it would actually torque the body into the tire on the right side while riding a wheelie. But that was w/ mod. motors w/ 8 tooth pinions at 14.4 v.
