Hey Guys, just got back from HobbyTown with 3 new batteries (Venom 5000MAh NiMh) and a Hitec HS-645MG servo. ?Now that I have my old servo out, how in the heck do I get the Hitec to fit? Do I need to break out a drill?

Halp!

I think so, or maybe you can swap the arm from old servo to new high Tech if they are compatible.

Ummm... well............ err.............. don't I feel like a boob.

HPI includes adapters for different servomanufacturers with the car. I found the bag of parts while going to one of the kids cars to verify my installation.

So I'm good to go now.

well went to the lhs and got somthing

was 109 without tax, with tax was 122, but had a coupon so got it for 112, went home, put it in calibrated it, and took it for a spin, wheelies some, and does about 25 mph on my 6 cell, gunna adjust slipper and mesh some sounds alittle loose, but so far, i like it and it enough speed for me and it was cool, its cold here so my hands were cool but when i felt the motor and esc, they felt like they were cool, i would say 90 max, and jt didn't cog unless i tried to make it. tommorow ill try my 7 cell and it has alot better run times even with nihm, glad its fixed now, now i just need the grass to dry up so i can run it in them.

19t in a few days i might order some deans (was in a hurry, and i got the tamiya connectors cause they were about to close, if i get deans, ill order a pinion or two also, what teeth would you recommend?
edit: also, when i go to take off, if i give it a good bit of throttle it goes slow, then picks on up, is that cogging( dont think it is, it isn't "jerky") or a loose slipper?

Sorry, misunderstood the question.
Will hold my horses...

Just ordered the Integy bell crank from RC-Planet, couldn't wait for Darkside to test it.
Hope it is as good as it looks!

For battery plugs I think this can be a good option...
http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXYCL4&P=RH
They are quite cheap now.
I bought 9 sets and payed $3.99 (each) two months ago.

Could also be the battery, Give the slipper a another turn or two. Get the castle link and fine tune this beast on your computer. Pick up a pinion set that goes from like 18 to 24 etc.
Temp gun would be nice too.

Not sure, But if you look up the size( might be a M3) you can just buy the right length at a hardware store.

Nice score nitro newby. I intend on getting the same setup for my Storm. Be sure to let us how how you like it after you've got a few packs through it. How soon before you throw a LiPo behind it?

Seeing as how I'm at work with nothing to do, I'll throw a question out there. You all know that I recently installed a Hitec servo, however the throw seems to be short (same as stock). When the transmitter is powered off and the ESC is powered on, the servo does the funky chicken (like it's supposed to) but I noticed that the wheels will go full lock left and right. But with the transmitter powered on and the steering trim set to center, the steering throw isn't anywhere near going full steering lock. I have a good 1/4 inch of addition steering available. So, here is my question: is the steering being limited by the transmitter? Is there anything that can be done besides buying a new receiver/transmitter?

I can't recall if the stock tx has a dualrate knob or not but if it does make sure it's turned up all the way for max steering throw...

powerslider, the tx does have a dualrate knob. But I noticed that when playing with it that it seems to allow more power forward or more power in reverse. I didn't notice it affecting steering. But then again, I never experimented with it in regards to steering. I'll give that a try when I get home. But I do recall using the dualrate knobto put more power in reverse that forward when I had my 7 year old daughter running my car. I kept the forward speed down making it easier for her to control.

EDIT for NopancakeMix: SWEETCARNAGEMAN!! Drive it like you stole it!

I just looked the manual and it does have an adjustment for dual rate, the knob is on top of the tx at the rear. It should only affect steering travel not motor speed.

I have 3 Ht's that I removed the motors/escs/receivers before I ran the trucks, I have no use for them so if you need anything there let me know....

Thanks for the warm and fuzzy powerslide. It may have just been my perception due to not knowing what that knob actually did. The instructions weren't clear enough for me I guess.

And I'll be glad to take those motors/escs/receivers of your hands so you can fit more usefull equipment in your toolbox. PM me.
