RE: Official E-FIRESTORM thread
Only one month. There's a thread on RCTech with a bunch of folks with the same issue.
It only happens when torque control is turned on, which leads me to believe it's an ESC issue not a motor issue...

If you don't want to update without permission just run without torque control. It will make you a better driver. If it just happens with torque control on then I am betting its firmware for sure.

RE: Official E-FIRESTORM thread
Went out to the parking lot and what do I see? the cops have one of those radar trailers set up to tell you your speed.... Have my 3s on the charger so I put my 2s in and was not easy getting a speed run in with all the traffic, But I hit 65 kph which is a hair over 40mph on 2s. When the traffic slows down later I will try the 3s and report back.

Red, that is perfect, you didn't need anyone to hold the gun for you which is my problem. I'm going for a drive this afternoon with storm and will take the baja out this evening.
I've been thinking of trying out SCT wheels since the blitz rims and hubs will work on my truck. Those hubs are also compatible with traxxas 28 high profile rims. For speed runs it may help since they don't expand as much.

Well I got drunk last night and never got around to the 3s speed run and now the radar is gone...[]
Anywho I find the 2.8 rims and 30 series tires are much better for high speeds and they even handle better then the 2.2's

RE: Official E-FIRESTORM thread
They set up the radar trailer a couple streets over so I got a run in on my 3s with 3/4 charge and it hit 49 mph, I will charge up the 3s and take a try again. looks like I will get the same speeds as Rob has seen around 52 ish mph.... I should put my 24t pinion on and try it.

RE: Official E-FIRESTORM thread
Anything above 50 and the these trucks are quite a handful. My regular driving setup goes up to 50 and thats it. I had 53 and 51 mph days with 88/19 on the four-pole. I wonder if the higher current capacity of the ESC is helping a bit.
I drove a pack tonight under normal playing conditions and temps hit 115F. It was 80F outside.
I put on RPM steering blocks and rear bearing carriers and replaced the aluminum. RPM makes such nice stuff.

RE: Official E-FIRESTORM thread
i know. i got some RPM arms and a bumper on my Rustler and am very happy with both. i also got another RPM bumper on my Bandit, and let me tell ya': its saved me alot of money! i can't tell you how many front arms, turnbuckles, servo savers, etc. that i would have broken if not been for that bumper. gotta love RPM...
PS: nice vid on the workshop. ever considered an electric conversion on the Baja?

I love burning fuel and the baja is the most convenient way to do it. Likely there is room for only one nitro (savage) and the baja for the amount of driving I do, but it would be hard to give up fuel altogether.

RE: Official E-FIRESTORM thread
i really want one of those, but for $220, that's a little high, especially when it still needs some kinda BL upgrade. i guess maybe if its got 2.4, but i've already got my own 2.4ghz setup for all my cars, so that does me no good...

Looks like the Hobbytown E-Firestorm HT now has been given the water proof and 2.4ghz treatment and new tires and shell...$220 Brushed.

A Firestorm kit with hop up parts would sell like hotcakes I tell you.

what they need is a firestorm 2. keepthe toughness and durability but modernize it. bring the steering and suspension up to par with the t4.1. it wouldn't hurt the bashability, but it would have a lot more appeal to the occasional racer, club racer, club racer/basher and kit builders. keep a brushless RTR option but also put out a reasonably priced SS kit version. a truck like that with options like that and everybody's happy. especially HPI when the kits go flying off the shelves

yep, especially if they could keep the BL version of the 2 under $400. race ready, BL, very capable, etc... all for under $400. great idea, you should send it in to HPI, see what they say.

RE: Official E-FIRESTORM thread
Thats truck looks good. The price is interesting, throw on another 120 for a BL setup and sell the brushed electronics and you get....something for the same price as the FS flux. I paid 160 shipped for my brushed truck in the fall of 2009.
Good move to the geolanders. They will wear much better than the ground assault tires..
I think HPI is aiming the FS at the basher market only for the storm since there are no serious series running stadium truck classes. I would like an ESE type kit for the storm (filled with RPM plastic).
I think all kits should come with no engine/motor. If you are into the hobby enough to build a kit you obviously aren't going to run the mill that comes with it, especially for nitro and gas.
Losi has a good thing going with their bind'n'drive and race roller kits.
