I remove my crystal anytime im using AFP, I just pull it out when using the sim and pop it back in when done so i dont lose it. This adds serious time to my charge and supposedly dosent fry the Tx internals by sending signals w/ the ant. down.
Your crystal is on the lower left of the front, should slide right out.

I have a plug I got from OMP for my 9c that bypasses the module and just turns th TX on..Maybe there is one for your radio..I would check on their website.

I think this is for all Futaba radios that have the square mini connector. I just ordered one. I'm not sure if it will bypass the frequency module and save battery power though. Who said it does that? I can just pull my crystal if it doesn't bypass it.

If your tx has a square port on the back then it will work..The way it was explained to me is that it uses very little power because you are not transmitting a signal..When you are transmitting the signal then it is using power as if you were actually flying..
