Hey Dave,
In looking at the elevation issues, I looked at two fld files, one for the slope and another for Airplane, located in C:\Program Files\FS One\Fields\3D By comparison, there is a significant difference in the Aircraft start position and the pilot start position. I didn't do any tests, but you might find what you are looking for here. I'm guessing it'll take a lot of testing to nail the correct location in your pano, but at least it's a direction.
Good luck

Hey dave- It appeares that you are a FS one gueru,, I have FS one and have been using it until my hard drive crashed. I've recently rebuilt it but I can't get fs one to work anymore. Basicly it won't even start. once I click on it, it flashes for a second then terminates. Any ideas?

I had the same problem once. Make sure you are in 32 bit color mode.
#1729
Yes it is in 32 bit. I also made sure i have the lastest and greatest graphics updates. i've uninstalled, reinstalled updated everything i can think of, but may have missed something. But the thing that confuses me is that it worked before, but not now.

I suspect a software conflict. Hmmm... will FSOne run if the PC starts in Safe Mode? I've never tried it but I think it's worth a shot. Or you could run MSConfig and turn off some of the start up programs to see if FSOne will work when some of these programs are turned off.

I just tried to check my game controller on the control panel. and noticed that nothing happens. went to updates and couldn't download from there. perhaps something wrong with my gamming driver. i'm working on it now but if any ideas please let me know

Game controller? Are you using the tracon controller through the dongle? I assumed since your set up worked for you before it should work again, but if it's not working now, try going back to the tracon controller.

Perhaps that doesn't "help" much, but just for your consideration. You need to be barking up the right tree eventually.
Good luck

Thanks for the inputs you all are very kind and helpful. However nothing worked. The game controler issue was my Microsoft force joystick causing problems. That issue is now fixed, now i'm back to scraching my head and wishing it was warmer out side, (I'd rather be flying than dealing with this pice of junk). So I finally called Horizion hobby support last night, and I guess that this is a first for them. They collected all the info they could from me and said they would get back with me after the weekend.. So for the time being,, I'm going to put up some pictures of airplanes on my monitior and pretend to be flying,.LOL

Good news,, It's fixed. My Kids Fisher Price(R) Easy Link (HID) was causing the problem. When I had the coumputer out I pluged it in to the USB port in the back of the CPU. Before it was never pluged in when I ran FS One. So now I put everything back to the was before and now I'm back in busness.

hello
i have reserached for a while but cannot find this problem SOLVED elsewhere.
FSONE works well for me. I use it mostly (95%) to practice HeLicopters.
the problem I cannot solve is that (for example) when using the VIGOR, after the crash the HELI DOES NOT RESET. I always have to "ESCAPE" and even sometimes have to escape once or twice
before I get to use the heli again. " annoying"
Two of the helis ( BELL and JET) are not usable, they just appear on the screen, the sound comes on but no action begins. All other helis ( I think haven't done them all) work well, no probs. I use the
TREX most of the time and it is faultless
FSONE was VERY instrumental in helping me set up, they even hooked themselves up to my PC remotely and made it work. I cannot locate FSONE techs anywhere, anymore.
Are they still around ?
I have no PC probs. Top of the line INVIDIA , plus TERABYTE HD capacity, no restrictions. I am waiting to receive the G 4.5 to see if I an improve my training with their Helis. I do use it at the LHS
and I like it a lot.
FSONE ? are y'all out there ? can you help on this RESET situation ?
Thanks,
BARRRICK @ Houston TX

From Inertiasoft's FAQ: http://inertiasoft.com/fsonefaq/index.html
When helis crash, the engine does not startup like I would expect on reset. What's happening here? (Q1032-FS1)
* When helis crash in FS One, pressing Reset puts the helis back to the starting position. Reset does not stop the rotor from spinning or restart the engine if it quit in a hard crash.
* After pressing Reset, put the two-position switch in Hold (idle) mode, and then press the 'j' key to start the engine (if it quit in the crash). Then take it out of Hold (two-position switch) and into Normal Flight Mode (three-position switch). Add some collective, and wait a few seconds for the gyro to spoolup and then add collective to fly.
This should set things straight!

DIRECTING a GREAT BIG THANKYOU to SCTHOLSON
that was indeed the required solution to my FSONE shortcoming. I SINCERELY thank you for that. All that re-setting got to be a bit MUCH.
I forgot to check see if the BELL and the JETHELI come about using the same technique. ( ? )
Now, from your apparently infinite wisdom :is there an "intermediate" setting one can apply in the SIM RATE MULTIPLIER ( under Physics chapter ) ???
the " 100 " setting is way too fast ( I think it is ) I even don't think it reflects any reality.
but " 50 " the next available setting ( which I think is too slow ) does not reflect reality either.
having used G 4.5 in the LHS, these speeds are divided into Beg. Interm. and Advanced......and I believe they are a bit closer to what my RAPTOR actually does at the field.
WOuld you want to COMMENT on this ????
I remain TRULY GRATEFUL.........Richard F. Barr

Barrick,
There are several ways to affect the speed issue, please describe in more detail what about the speed you're having problems with. Is the heli jerky? too fast on the cyclic, gone from sight before you can control it?
I can give you a flavor of each, but it'll be simpler if you can detail it a bit more. Also I won't be able to answer you thoroughly until later tonight.

This is relatively HARD to do :
since everything is RELATIVE and nothing is ABSOUTE : I feel that the flight set @ 1.00 of the Sim Rate Multiplier happens much faster than in "real life" ; nothing is jerky, everything is controllable but
the finger input required is almost reduced to a micrometric measure, i.e. way TOO sensitive. Because I have flown a RAPTOR in reality, I know this is so.
when set @ 5.0 of the Sim Rate Multiplier, YES, everthing becomes as if it were in camera Slow Motion. Nothing jerky, everything controllabe but SLOW. Not real.
I WOULD VENTURE TO SAY THAT TO REPRODUCE REAL FLIGHT ( like at the field ! ) there should be available a setting of : 7.5
i sincerely HOPE to have found the right words to express my experience.
AGAIN, thank you so much for solving the RESET PROBLEMS I WAS HAVING . i DID achieve the awakening of the BELL SCALE and it is quite beautiful to fly. Richard F.

Hi Barrick,
Based on your description, I think instead of slowing the simulator down with the Sim Rate Multiplier, you'll have a better simulator experience by slowing the cyclic response of the heli. Here's how to do this:
Begin by selecting the vigor transmitter and click "edit" FSOne will tell you it cannot edit the original and you'll need to make a copy. Name it whatever you want to.
After the transmitter is saved the edit transmitter window will open. In the upper right portion of the screen you will find a button named "mixing". Click on this. (by the way, these settings are specific to this transmitter only, so you're not making global changes that would affect the entire sim... just this transmitter). Now click on the mixing for the CCPM120 and click the "edit" button. Now change the rates for the Collective Chan Gain to -.35 and the Roll Chan Gain to .45 and the Pitch Chan Gain to .45 (The closer you get to 0 with these values the slower the heli will respond - I did not try these values, so I'm just guessing, your mileage will vary). You'll notice that you'll have to click in the cell and backspace and retype the values, that's normal for FSOne. Make sure the Collective Chan Gain is a negative number or the mixing will be all messed up.
Okay, Click ok in that window
And, Click ok in the next window
And, finally click Ok in the upper right hand corner of the Edit Transmitter window.
This will take you out to the Transmitter selection window and click ok, Click ok through the rest of the windows and try flying to see what your changes were like.
Let me know if you don't mind what settings you like the best.
Happy Simming.
Scott

THANK YOU , extraordinary response ! I had NO IDEA these things could be done. But then, being on the way to "four score ....&..." etc... I am a wee bit behind the times (most of the time)
I will implement , forthwith. It is now 10pm CST and I need to shut down, you know, put the cat out, etc.......TOMORROW I will try what you recommend, and WILL REPORT MY FINDINGS.
Great STUFF ( and something to DO on a Sunday......YEEAAAYYY )..... I look forward to a better flying experience although I can say that I was not at all deprived in any sense . After all I've
had a radio TX in my hands since 1954 HA !

p.s. and if you'd be so kind : please tell what NUMBER the corresponding channels are in this system . ! AIL ? 2 ELE ? 3 RUD ? 4 THRT ??
( ignorance is never bliss )
It probably goes without saying that once the indicated adjustements are prog'd in, the SIM RATE MULTIPLIER to be used will be : 1.0 ? QED ? please refute this theory if it is wrong

Hi Scott.
It has been over a year since I logged into this forum, but I see that you are still the greatest fountain of knowledge here. I was under the impression that you were a user and not one of the gnomes, but I probably am wrong. If you are a mere mortal (user) and not one of the support team (wizards), I applaud you. You sure do make this forum worth looking into from time to time either way.
I have been out of the picture for quite some time but I picked up the remote a few days ago and things are looking up here.
I am a little disappointed that FSone is nearly out of the picture (from what it appears), but I am sure glad to see that there is a true believer still here. I do believe that it has the potential of being the greatest sim available to the public and it would be had it the backing it deserves, that is, companies dedicated to researching what the public wants, and dedicated to giving it to them.
Thanks,
Bill Thames

Hi Barrick,
Good luck with testing today...
The short answer is:
Channel 4 = Collective
Channel 2 = Aileron
Channel 1 = Pitch (or elevator)
To find out for yourself in the future or for other aircraft:
Click on the Edit Transmitter and look at the second column (blue color and it's called Channel name)
Click on the description in any cell and in the header it identifies the Channel number.
Best of luck
Scott

Hi Bill,
I am a user: I've just figured out how all this stuff works. No sense on everyone trying to figure it all out. I can't speak for any FSOne or InertiaSoft staff, but occassionally I see them trolling this forum (I have no super powers, I just see who's online from the top of this window). They haven't answered any questions here for some time.
I, like you, and many others, wish we'd see more development work from any of the developers. They may be working their butts off, but we have seen absolutely nothing for quite a while. I'm dissapointed, but hey, I like the sim and it works to help improve my flying skills.
I just want to point out that in fairness to the support side of FSOne, this is not their support forum. Although I've never called them, I understand Horizon Hobby does a pretty fair job at resolving issues.
Welcome back to the forum.
Scott

Good morning Mr. Scotholon;
First thing this morning (early) I implemented your written instructions/guidance. Only one small difference : I made the Collective -.45 i.s.o. -.35 as you wrote.
the other values were used exactly as you suggested.
THE SIMULATION IS, IMO, as perfect and as close to my reality as I could have ever hoped for !!!
I am using the VIGOR, with the corrected inputs, in a Airport PANO. It is SO PERFECT now.....
Now that you have OPENED THE DOOR to these "hidden" or "remote" areas of the simulator.....i THINK I can move forward throught the FOG and maybe experiment some more.
But , for the while, I will practice my SIM [ by hidden or remote I mean that the average Joe would have trouble just finding all this stuff]
JUST THE WAY YOU SET IT UP FOR ME............ I wish I knew better words, but here are my best : THANK YOU A MILLION TIMES OVER.......Richard
P.S. a new worry : did I read correctly that this SIM is about to be ABANDONED by the purveyors ????? Is it really on the way out ??? Is REAL FLIGHT vs. G 4.5 to blame ???????
as you say : I will continue to use it since it serves me very well

dear Friend Scotholson;
I am baffled. I practiced with the new set-up, for maybe 4 or 5 times. I am practicing INVERTED HELI, so the resets come, fast and furious.
After turning off the programs and doing some EMailing, and coming back . the HELIS no longer get airborne..... the "plate" of the blades turning, tilts in every direction, the collective (motor) goes up and down
but the Helicopter does NOT GET AIRBORNE
i also notice that all the applied new settings have dissapeared. The programming you taught me is no longer there. Is there somewhere that SECURES the settings, or does this
programming need to be done each time one returns to fly the SIM ?
I have gone back to the setting you explained, but I am not finding anything ( pitch, maybe ? ) that seems to make the heli get AIRBORNE, WHAT NEXT ????
THis applies to the new TX settings, it also applies to the other HELI MODELS ( TREX i.e.) that I am trying, none FLY anymore. It also applies to the other, NON MODIFIED TX
what is my next step ?
