I recently fitted a 250cc ofna tank to my truck. I'm not overly impressed with the performance. The lack of baffles and large width/length means it leans out under braking, sometimes the fuel flow goes completely dead for a split second.
Can anyone suggest a good tank, or a good tank brand? (could be an aircraft tank too). I want something in the region of 250cc, I'm done with tiny tanks!
I've been looking through tower and very few tanks seem to have baffles, which puzzles me (I thought this would be a big feature for planes). I'd also love a clunk but realise this may be unreasonable with a baffled tank.
Any help appreciated.

Yeah I could - I think I'll try that as a temporary fix. It's already got a mildly inclined bottom but I could probably add some shims under the front mount and improve it.
Thanks

Yeah, but when you put fuel in that thing Jeff, it's gonna leak all over the place...

KiZ...which truck are you talking about?
Maybe a Buggy / Truggy style tank would work?

Is this the one? http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXTVD0&P=7 I see the pick up is in the corner and has a bubbleless filter on it

Proptop: It's a savage with a mid tank conversion.
Yeah that's the one I'm using, and you're correct it's in the corner with a filter.
I'm guessing you guys run aircraft.. how do you stop the fuel sloshing around from affecting pickup? Clunks can surely only help 2 of the 3 axes the Gs can affect (up/down, left/right). Do you use header tanks?
jeffie8696: What can I say, I guess I'm BAFFLED with your reply! Lol

Yep...this is primarily a airplane kind of hang-out, but, anything goes and all questions are welcome when it comes to fuel related things...
Did you have a look in the HPI forum? In case ya didn't know, there is a forum just for HPI products and a lot of Savage related info is in there.
I used to do quite a bit of repair work for a LHS...worked on lots of Savages ( as well as T-Maxx, LST's, etc. etc. ) but never did the mid mount tank mod. to one...sounds interesting.
Edit: I see that you already know about the Monster Truck and HPI sections...

Yeah I asked here specifically because I felt that you airplane guys might be able to answer my questions about fuel tanks. Most cars/buggies/trucks have small tanks (160cc or less), but I'm after a bigger one... and I can fit a small aircraft tank (sullivan, etc) in the mount area. I actually came here from Savage Central because I wanted the opinion of aircraft owners. Thanks.

We all use flexible clunk pickups in our planes and the clunk goes where the gravity is. No baffles

The Tettra 'bubble free' tanks http://www.centralhobbies.com/Fuel/fueltnk2.html have a bladder so no air can get into the fuel. I've never used one but they look like they would give very reliable fuel flow. RCU members from Europe mention these so there is probably a dealer closer to you than Central.

Carrellh is quite correct on the 'Bubbless' type tanks. They have been a deep dark secret for years now of the RC pylon community but actually they are extremely valuble at times on certain problamatical airplanes.
Heck I use them on all my controlline airplanes and much to the distain of traditionalist. There is no clunk used or are there any baffles. They are uneeded and these tanks have far superior fuel delivery performance to any conventional Suction or suction/muffler pressure system.
No anti foaming padding is needed or recommended and the tanks can be mounted in any position. Check Carrolls link above at Central Hobbies be careful that you purchase the Tetra Bubbless tanks and not the conventional Tetra tanks. They are about three times the conventional price but worth every penny in uniform engine runs under all attitudes and 'G' loads.
