RE: HPI Baja Buggy!!!!
That is why I asked for release info. It was an effort to put this thread back on track. I don't want to see the thread locked or deleted.

RE: HPI Baja Buggy!!!!
Please everyone, calm down a little. There is no need for arguments. FG is here to stay, FG fans are here to stay, and HPI has no problem with that. The Baja 5B will add to the giant scale market and hopefully attract more people to that segment and to the R/C hobby in general.
For radio_controlled_mad:
The engine in the video was the stock CY unit, running the stock muffler without the optional extension/restrictor pipe.
The Baja 5B has provisions for front brakes built into the front suspension.
There will be a tuned pipe for it, but I doubt it will be a flexible design.

Those are just UK prices. Someone has to pay for the Queen to get her hair done. Ask one of us to send one to you!! I'm sure a few of would send them out to you guys. Maybe the US distis will look at that.

the irony in your statement
harm bx 1 - fg marder race - fg leopard - soon to have j&a mamba,
for £750 i think the hpi baja needs to be something special to price it higher than the full alloy mamba - or in the leopard race price range.

And what are those? All clones of the FG base design! This HPI design is far superior.

RE: HPI Baja Buggy!!!!
HPI is definately going in the right direction, I feel. Gasoline power has a huge appeal to most people the first time they see one in person, especially if they own electric or nitro; the "bigness" vs. electric - the economy vs. nitro: both appealing!
I build gas powered boats, I've owned a Traxxas Monster Buggy, and built a gasoline powered Maxx - and looked close at FG over the last 2 years. I'm no stranger to gas powered vehicles.
So without getting into new/old/copy designs, or comparing brands, the interesting thing about this vehicle is the detail HPI has put in. Dare I say, HPI did to the Baja 5b that Traxxas did with the Revo? Alot more CAD work obviously, but also attention to small details - like body clipped components (quick on/off without tools), built in charge jack, booted axles, pretty much weatherproofed out-of-the-box, etc. Hopefully this is the wave of the future for gasoline powered vehicles.
As far as the tuned pipe, it sure looks like (pics are all we have folks) a wrap forward pipe would fit just fine - albeit it might need to run outside the roll cage?
For us in North America, this might be a great gasoline vehicle, with a chance at good local parts support! [sm=thumbup.gif]
I won't be in the market until next season - so I'll sit back, let you guys work the bugs out, and maybe the kit will be released in time for spring! Should be exciting.

RE: HPI Baja Buggy!!!!
Thanks for the info HPI Staff! Canada RC, RamTech-Rc & all the others who are tired of the same bs, HPI Staff is right, there really is no sense going on with this.It will never end with these two guys & it doesn't change how we are gonna feel about the HPI. Luckily most people here can see through them & will give the HPI a fighting chance anyhow.

RE: HPI Baja Buggy!!!!
turtle
please lets get back to talking about the buggy instead of the personal issues you have with most members especially fg for some obscure reason.
lets just concentrate on the good info. we are getting from hpi staff in regards to the new bugg? turtle even hpi staff have said its not here to take over fg's reign but its a great innovative new addition that i more than likely will purchase. do you honestly think hpi would be making a big scale if it wasn't for fg's established popularity and especially the popularity of the mt's and mb in the last 12 months+? so lets thank fg for opening the big scale door for every other company to follow suite its all gravy
FG we salute you and it is awesome to see other companys who finally realise the popularity of big scale
