Default Mixing help

hello, this is my first gas heli and the problem is that when i increase the throatily all that happens is that the pitch of the blades changes but the engine servo or the throttle servo doesn't work. I have PCM102 futaba t8uaf, the manual is to much for me.

if the servo is functional and plugged into the proper functioning channel of the receiver and is still not moving, either you have 'throttle hold' enabled and the switch is set to hold, the throttle curves are flat or your carb is locked up not allowing the servo to move.

roverks:: ... I have PCM102 futaba t8uaf ...
That would be a 1024 ... right?

Throttle Hold ... page 9 of manual shows SW-E is the factory default for throttle hold.
Throttle Hold ... page 79 describes the throttle hold mode and menu settings

Like KC36330 said, assuming everything is working and set up correctly, this could be the issue.

Good Luck,

Yes, it's a switch on the remote. It is used as a safety to prevent the engine running any faster than a slow idle while you carry it out to the flight area.

While throttle hold is on, the throttle channel is fix at almost min throttle. There is a setting in the TX to allow you to set the exact position so the engine idles smoothly.

ONLY when you're ready to fly, turn off throttle hold and away you go.

(This goes for electrics as well, except throttle hold is set to zero so the motor doesn't turn at all)

Karyn.

p.s. When you get more advanced you can use throttle hold to shut down the engine while you practise auto-rotation landings and also to minimise damage in the case of tail rotor failures.

99.99999% of us use throttle hold simply to bring the engine to idle while doing auto-rotations. it does exactly what it is called, it Holds the throttle at a set value regardless of what you do with the throttle/collective stick. it also overrides any throttle curves set in stunt mode(s) when activated and On.

Now that's something entirely different ...

What heli?

Typically, one would would expect the servo plugged into the pitch channel to move regardless of flight mode or swash config when the throttle stick is moved fore/aft.

The only time I saw this happen is when the TX was set up for ACRO instead of HELI. In ACRO, it's obvious that channel 6 will not move with the throttle stick unless you've programmed a mix to do it. The TX needs to be set to a HELI type model.

Look in the manual (PG 32) to get to the PARAmeter menu ... and see which type you have ... options are ACRO, the glider modes, and the heli swash modes. Make sure this NOT Acro or glider. It should be set to the SWASH config of your heli.

Good Luck,
d.tipton

Roverks do your self a favor, find some local help, don't try to fly that thing by yourself.

could be flat pitch curves. i use a JR PCM 10x Heli (JR dedicated this TX to fly only Heli, if you wanted to fly planks you have to buy a 10x Aero and it wont fly helis.....or so some would lead you to belive) for all my planks as well and in order to use Chan 6 for elevator on my 1/4 scale Extra all pitch curves have to be set to 50% in all stick positions (in every flight mode) and then a programmable mix of Elevator to Pitch takes care of the rest.

with that said, check the pitch curves they could be set for no servo movement the entire travel of the throttle stick.

umm, one more question are the pitch servo and the throttle servo suppose to move in the same direction. my pitch servo is on top of throttle servo.

they need to move in the direction in which gives the correct input to the heli design. up stick gives open carb and positive pitch.

not all MFGs will have then going in the same direction.

Do take Cuda's advice and have someone who knows what they are doing go over your bird before you have a try at it.
