hey guys. I am getting into helicopters, and I need to learn before I destroy my new heli. I will soon have a new AXE CPv3 on the way, (along with some spare parts). I would like to learn a little on a sim before diving into flying the real thing. I am looking for a CHEAP sim that will work with my radio that will come with the AXE, and I need it to be decent. I absolutely do not want to spend more than $40, and under that is preferable. Computer is not a problem, I use a new Dell with 4GB RAM and dual core processor, so I can run about any sim I want... I just need a sim that will teach me to fly. I have been into electric and nitro cars for 6 years, and have had a nitro boat for 2. I just don't want to wreck my AXE before I get some use out of it...
Keep in mind that I only want to learn, not play all day. I dont care if it has an AXE CP to fly, it just needs to be cheap, work with my radio, and teach me to fly. I would also love if I can just download it, rather than wait for shipping. (if it is downloadable, I need someone to point me in the direction of the cable I need from Tower Hobbies)
Let me know what options I have! Thanks!

I know what its like being on a budget and you can find the Realflight G2 on ebay or other rc sights for about $40.00 bucks and you can download the G4 demo from knife edge and use the G2 controller cause thats what I did about 6 months ago and it works awesome and better than them cheap $35.00 dollar off brand sims.If you can come up with $75.00 bucks you can find the Realflight G3.5.I just got one a few weeks ago and love it,awesome graphics,you can download all the new helis like the Raptor 30-50,Trex 450-500-600-700 and you can fly with other people online and people can teach you all the tricks you wanna know...This is what I learned from useing the realflight G2 sim with in 5-6 months and ive been in the hobby for 8 months http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=93DB1...e=channel_page ... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_eyJi...e=channel_page .... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X_sDw...e=channel_page ...

Something like this? http://cgi.ebay.com/Real-Flight-3-5-4-5-RC-Simulator-Great-Planes-DEC27258_W0QQitemZ160306587343QQcmdZViewItemQQptZR adio_Control_Vehicles?hash=item160306587343&_trksi d=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1205|66%3A2|65%3A12| 39%3A1|240%3A1318|301%3A0|293%3A1|294%3A50
For RealFlight and the features it includes, I might just be able to pony up $75. I need something to learn on, and probably fly on when I can't fly my helicopter. I'll have to keep an eye out for deals on these!
Thanks!

There is a link to a $40 sim and cable.
I learned to fly with FMS and a homemade cable and a Blade CP.[
]
It is not the best or easiest way,but it is cheap.
But thinking that it can be done is funny.
When you are ready to do it right, come back and see me.
Bring $700.

I use Clearview. It is a decent sim for the money $39.99. You can download a demo and try it out. If you like it you just pay for the license online . They send you a code to enter and thats it. You can be using it in a couple of minutes. I am not sure of all the radios that you can use with it but I think you can find that on their website. It may not be as good as some of the more expensive sims, but it sure helped me alot.

A friend of mine flys planes and has Real Flight G4. While visiting him one day I tried out the helis on G4, and it is fun if you like to play games. I was a 3D master on my first attempt at it. Even the small helis seem to fly themselves on G4. As I mentioned above, I use Clearview now, but I might upgrade to Phoenix some day. The Realflight G4 might be good for planks, but it sure didn't impress me for helis since they pretty much fly themselves. I am sure that you will read many opinions as to what is "the best" but remember that these are just others opinions. Is Clearview "the best"? Certainly not, but your quest was for a decent lesser expensive sim and I think it fits the bill. Just like many people will tell you that Align Trex helis are the best. Are they? Not from all the info that I read. They are very well designed and built helis, but there are better ones if you want to spend the money. This hobby is no different than many others. Sometimes name recognition doesn't always mean that you are getting the best quality. My wife drives a Cadillac. Is it a good car? Yes it is in my opinion, but, I would never own any other GM product cause IMO they are junk. Our other 5 vehicles are all FORDS.Are Fords "top of the line"? Nope, just our preference since we had real good luck with them. Don't believe everything you read, including my post cause like others, I am just stating my own opinion.

If you want an awesome Heli sim (it has airplanes too), definitely look at Phoenix RC...it is second to none... http://www.phoenix-sim.com/welcome.htm
I've been using it for 6+ months and it really helps build confidence and orientation skills without the worry of crashing. Phoenix was originally designed for heli physics (later adapted to planes), unlike most other sim's. It also has utilities to modify the heli canopy and create your own sceneries. Their tech support is also incredible, no matter what the question or issue, they always get back to you fast.

wife bought me fsone for christmas... i had been using fms.... graphics are really nice...but heli selection is lousy...lots of planes though.....as i am new to helis ...i have a blade 400...i wont attempt to fly without some sim time...tried that once...learned my lesson....If you own some of the models on a sim or have flown them i guess you can tell if the physics are close to real... if a blade cp is squirrly in real life and your hovering like joe the pro on your first couple tries then i wouldnt trust it. But if you got one as a gift like me...i flew a voyager 50 on my sim then did a google search for voyager 50 videos...i was very surprised after watching the videos how close they seemed to be flying to how my sim was....so i felt somewhat confident about it. havent tried the rest or any airplanes yet but this is a good idea on how to check the realism of a sim which to me is the meat and potatoes....eye candy and extras just a bonus...well thats my two cents worth...happy flying everyone! wife paid 99.00 for the sim which incl. the tacon controller and two different types of dongles...one a usb conn. and another a parrallel or serial conn. i do feel this was rushed to market and im not happy with the heli selection at all ....very limited.... 3 or 4 very small helis from e flight which are virtually useless...a 50 size elect and nitro, a 90 size gasser and a large scale ranger. no blade400.....no trex450 althought i now see a small upgrade pack with one for about 20.00....your limited to what horizon wants to add , and when they want...i dont see how it would be feasible to make your own addons either..so if helis are your thing....stay away form this one...you could do better somewhere else.
