Default Jet-Tronic Brake Valve Setup Problems

Hello,

I have a new turnkey FeiBao L-39 and I am having problems setting up the Jet-Tronic brake valve. When I attempt to fill the system with air, all of the air leaks out of the other holes on the valve. (See pictures). Any idea as to what I am doing wrong? The open and close function seems to work correctly based on the red / green lights and movement of the slider on my transmitter. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Thank,

Chris Wilson

I have reversed the airlines per the instructions and that has solved the problem with the system not holding air. A new problem has developed. When I apply the brake lever, the valve pulsates for a few seconds and the wheels brake for about 2 seconds and then the air is released and the wheels spin freely even though the brakes are still on. Turning the brakes off also releases a lot of air as the valve pulsates.

Someone else may be able to offer you a solution but you might want to check your unit. You said it was a new "turn-key" jet but I am not sure from the pics that you have the latest version. They came out with a new one about a year ago and it has a black bottom.

There was a fault with a batch of valves about 18 months ago, but this has been resolved, if this was a turn key jet, did they not check that it all worked before giving it too you? does not sound very turn key to me.

On thing you can try is to reset the valve first, you do this by holding down both buttons and then powering up the valve, I have found that I did not need to set anything else in the valve after that it all worked fine, long progressive braking and held air before and after brake application.

Todd,

I will test. I reset the valve and it seems to operate correctly, with the exception when I apply the brakes, the air is released after 2 seconds.

Not sure I follow... air is released where? Does it apply air to the brakes or it just bleeds out of the valve directly?

The brake valve applies air to the brakes when I activate the right transmitter slide control. The brakes are applied for about 2 seconds and then the air is released through the open ports on brake valve itself.

Are you operating in On/Off mode or proportional?

The valve acts like it is in On/Off mode. I was not able to figure out how to switch modes on this particular valve.

Ok. I have confirmed that the brake valve is in proportional mode. When I apply the brake, it holds for about 2 seconds and then the air is released through the brake valve. Air is release through two air outlets labeled "3". Even though this is a brake valve, it looks more like the dual-valve due to the extra ports along the bottom. Only one port is blocked via a cap.

I'm not in the office (home fighting Bronchitis) so I cant look at the valves to advise but I believe what you have is the low loss version (although not current model). Perhaps [link=http://dreamworksrc.com/catalog/fdm_file_detail.php?file_id=39]THIS[/link] manual will clarify the setup.

Todd,

I have gone through the documentation and I believe the valve is bad. It always releases the air out of the (3) ports after applying the brake. Brakes hold for 2 seconds. I purchased this jet from Wayne McCosker, who purchased the valves from you about 2 years ago. The jet is new and finished, however, the air setup needed to be completed. If I order a Jet-Tronic single brake valve from you, will that work ok? The jet is a FeiBao and the landing gear / brakes are stock FeiBao as well. The gears and doors are using the dual Jet-Tronic valves with a Jet-Tronic sequencer.

Hey Chris, I have a new jet troinc brake valve that i had bought 1 and a half years ago and is doing the exact thing your did, did you ever get resolved. I am just using it now and having a difficult time, because of the leak, it will not hold pressure.
Also the company I bought it from is no longer in business.

thanks
Paul

hey guys, for those that may want to know and maybe still have some of these that are leaking and not working correctly.

I figured out the problem, they are connected properly but the problem is a decfect in the base from the manufacture.

They drilled a extra hole in which they tried to recover it with bad material with no luck causing the leak and non functioning valve.

I have two pictures here showing the problem and where the hole is to repair.

you can use JB weld or just use CA to close it up.

very easy fix, little soldering skills needed to remove the board and reapply it.
