Jet Cat is the most reliable JE in the world.

My sentence ends with (" PERIOD")

And so the 180RX should be, being the slowest spooling turbine on the planet !

Guys,

Let's not forget that JetCat have fixed this "issue" for those in 'normal' temperatures and that their original approach to the mapping was one that would work the world over without issues.

you are right. i know jetcat will fix the issue.. so another word the engines that are being sent to the states will be fast spool when set on fast.. i started flying jets in 07 and i have always used jetcat..very reliable .only problem i ever had was a sticky starter o ring...anyway you guys are suppose to get your new mapping for the ecus correct.. i hope all is well...

Most recent investment was a CARF Eurosport 3D version and was waiting for the feedback on the 180 Rx before pulling the trigger on it but this acceleration issue does not look very promising since I fly in a reasonably warm climate. Is it for the warmer regions that the turbine spoolup time needs reduction to ensure reliability ? The trusty old 160 SX is looking like a safer bet right now.

You will not be completely shutting the throttle with a hovering model. The way I understand it this is the initial pick up that is slow...

Guys, I am thinking of getting one of the new 180RX engines from Jetcat. Any reviews on its performance would be great.

Cheers<br type=''_moz'' />

Also look at the Rhino and Kingtech line. Jetcat over rates their power while the other 2 I mentioned are much more accurate in their ratings. In my flying area, we have proven it.

Does the 180RX have the same "footprints" as the P160SX? Meaning if I have a P160SX in a plane and want to swap it out for the P180RX are the dimensions for the engine clamps the same so I can use the same 4 bolt holes in the turbine mounting rails or would I need to drill new holes with new blind nuts?

In other words does the new P180RX just "drop in" right where the P160SX did without any modifications/drilling/issues?

Does anybody know?
Thanks!
Shaz

Shaz,

Its dimensions are identical to the P160sx so it's literally a drop in fit.

Geoff.

We are expecting them today. There was a minor delay in the shipping.

OK, here's the latest - Despite being told that the new ECU's were being shipped last week, it turns out they weren't and we weren't informed of this. Instead, Jetcat have continued to carry out their own tests this week and I was informed today that they are happy to ship the new ECU's to Mark and myself tomorrow.

Whilst I am very happy to hear that they have done some extensive tests, to be honest I am extremely disappointed in their customer service. They specifically told me last week that they were going to ship the ecus(I have the email to prove it) and yet when things changed they didn't have the sense to tell me, their customer! I am stunned by their customer service as I see it as a vital part of their business. I learnt many years ago to keep the customer informed of progress, no matter if its good news or bad, silence is the worst policy and it doesn't take long to send a quick email. Let me make it clear, I have no desire to damage Jetcats reputation as I have owned 4 of their turbines but they seriously need to look inwards.

So, in summary, the ECU's are due middle of next week. I am keeping my fingers crossed this whole sorry tale comes to a satisfactory conclusion.

Hey Geoff,

Pretty frustrating eh?! BUT if the performance figures quoted by Udo turn out to be accurate then we can put this whole tale behind us and enjoy the engine.....

Cheers

I agree Mark.

To clarify, we have been told the new improved spool up times are consistent with my expectations e.g. similar to both of my P160 SX's. If this is the case then its going to be one great turbine.

I just ran my P-140RX in my new F-4 this weekend. It started right up and I felt the spool,l times were consistent with the other SE and SX models I have owned. My settings were set at the factory for Normal at Idle and Fast for full throttle.

Hi,

Udo at JetCat spent several days himself testing the new ECU mappings and says it is now as easily as fast as the 160SX throttling so it would appear they have sorted it.

You are right, this is a hobby, but, some people invest a lot of money into this hobby so it is important to them. As this is a forum this is the right place to discuss such matters. Turd!
