I was hoping for 45lb to 50lb for 1/5.5 f16. Need to rethink next jet

The 180 is a slightly optimized 170, so I'm not sure why you would expect 45-50lbs. You wouldn't get those numbers until the Kingech 2xx.

If its the same weight and size as the K170 they should drop it for the 180. It wouldn't be very logical to carry both since they are so close in thrust range. I to like others was hoping for a 45 lb. Guess that won't happen this season.

I am running the 170. I spoke to Barry who told me the 180 is replacing the 170.

Thank you Basil!

Like I told Basil, the 180 does have the same combustion chamber and injectors as well as the peak RPM as the 170, but that's where the similarity ends, the entire set of aerodynamic components is different, from compressor wheel down to the exhaust nozzle. The 180 will enjoy better fuel efficiency as well.

Looking forward to getting my 180G, kero start. I had the 170 briefly never got to run it and soon as I heard about the 180, I sent it back in for a swap. The 180G is still a little while away but I'm sure it will be great for the skymaster large hawk.

Is the thrust 39 or 40.5?

That's my fault If you look carefully my temp probe was not screwed down and was too far inside the cone, What amaze me was at full power the tail cone barely glow red

I would definitely rate this engine @ 41lbs,Remember I was only getting 122k Rpm @ 39lbs could be my battery running low causing my engine not to get a full 123K, But if you check another manufacturer 180 class turbine the Rpm is 124 to 125 to get 40lbs.

My Opinion
Here it comes

Yes it can be, but if 170 is running well in a jet, I would be hesitant since there will be many components need to be replaced. I think it makes good sense for an upgrade had there been something like a FOD damage or worse.

We are trying to device something that will prevent the probe to go in deeper than what's required at 2mm into the cone. A 180 is running slightly hotter than a 170, but at full throttle shouldn't exceed 720C.
