Default Super light jet trailer

HI all, looking for some ideas and links to towing my jets around with a Mini. I've seen canvas and light wheels before, but no links so far, just these pics.

Does Mini give any tow ratings for their vehicles?

That's pretty good. I thought it would be less. Have you thought about doing your own with a built frame like this http://www.northerntool.com/shop/too...6494_200356494 and just keeping it light? There are a couple of threads on RCU using this frame I believe.

I built an 8' v nose on top of a frame like the one from Northern Tool. Put plywood on the floor and made box sides with a shelf and rear doors. With the v nose its about 10' along the centerline so i could fit the bigger jets in. The shelf slides right out complete with the jet it's holding. i used to tow it with a VW TDI (100 hp Diesel) Jetta no problem and the Mini should be fine with something this size.

I like that Snowmobile trailer with the clamshell, it's just too bad the hood doesn't open more. You will find 8' too short unless you are flying only 18-20 lb class jets. This trailer from Canadian tire looks good but length may be a problem:

I guess Mini's are more powerful than you would think.

Similar to Paul, I used a 4x8 foot trailer from Harbor Freight, like the first one above, enclosed the wheels and fabricated a 5x9 floor from ply. A simple box structure with 2x2's frp framing and 3/16 ply for sides with a lifting lid allowed to to tow quite nicely behind several Subaru's. It is light enough that any corner can be lifted easily. An occasional coat of house paint is a must though

I sure would not leave the Yuppie Wagon parked unattended!
It looks like it should have a moon on the door.
Someone might mistake it for a porta potty.

Ha ha! Just put an RCU sticker on the door and everyone will know it's so full of pooh already that it's not safe to lay another load into it. That will take care of any problems there.

That's pretty fancy. I just bought a ten dollar bathroom scale at Wallmart.

Another avenue to check out is some of the trailers made to be towed by a motorcycle.

You can get a lot of info on MC trailers here.

Unfortunately when you have a tongue weight over 400lbs a bathroom scale wont work

Ah I see. I did find this however. Check figure B ( http://www.etrailer.com/faq-how-to-d...ue-weight.aspx) Not sure I would trust that. I would probably just buy what you used as well.

That 2000 lb capacity scale while great for your RV, would not work well in this application where there is a max tongue load of 150 lbs, the bathroom scale or a fish scale are your best options. On my MC trailer I use a fish scale to set tongue weight at 25 lbs. Tongue weight and a trailer that pulls straight are even mor impotant for a bike.

Just get a proper Mini, then buy a matching one and cut it in half
