Ok just setup a Kingtech 140 on my JR28x and was wondering if I did it correct. I did the teach with the throttle trim in the middle position (for off) and then set the failsafe with the throttle trim all the way down. When the trim is in the middle the gsu reads 0 but if I remember correct on my Spektrum the trim had to be all the way down to read 0 and you had to use endpoints to set failsafe so it would be out of range. If there is a better way to setup the radio please let me know.

The trim should be up for idle, down for off, center position not used. Change your throttle trim step to 400 (from memory) you end with only two clicks up, and two clicks down.

I told him that I was not familiar with the 28X but saw no reason it would be any different than my 18MZ or 12X. So I told him what you just said, over on the RCGroups turbine forum but he's not listening. I'm really wondering if he's a new turbine guy and could use some help from my exchanges with him?

No Im not a new turbine guy just new to setting one up on the 28x. I also dont know why you would say Im not listening, I posted on both sites to increase my chance of getting some help since it doesn't appear anyone is flying jets on a 28x. The thing that was throwing me off was the gsu reading 0 at mid trim and I didn't remember that happening when I used my dx18.

I have 5 jets set up on my 28X (all Kingtech) and set them up as per the ECU eg idle is at middle trim setting, off is low trim setting. I have had no issues with this setup. Set fail-safe up on the RX at either off or idle with loss of signal. From memory the ECU goes to idle with loss of signal anyway,

Peter, when you setup your failsafe dont you increase throttle endpoint to a higher value. So if you get a signal loss the ecu sees this as outside normal and gives you the 2 sec delay before shutting down.

I dont recall setting a higher value, but will check. I think I have it just going to idle in case a rebind is possible so as not to shut down completely, personal preference although probably a higher increase of fire in a crash. I will check and let you know as I'm setting up a new jet at the moment.

My understanding is that if failsafe is set at your normal kill then if you get a temp loss of signal your turbine will shut down immediately but if it goes to a range outside of normal the ecu waits 2 sec to see if signal is regained before shutting down.

I will then bow to your superior/longer experience with turbines and will not offer to help anymore.

If you don't set your falsafe value to be completely outside the normal operating range your ECU will never go to failsafe. Your turbine will go to idle or quit based on how your throttle failsafe is set but the ECU will NOT log a lost signal event which could be very useful for diagnosing issues.

That is correct, and unless you set your failsafe value outside the normal operating range, this behavior will never happen, you'll have only the radios failsafe setting, no 2 or 3 second delay and no log in the ECU indicating what happened.
