Hey fellow T1 flyers. Aug 28th is maiden day for my T1, very excited, nervous, anxious, yet confident that it will be a non-event. Any advice, or input would be greatly appreciated. If she flies anything like the Rebel, I'll be right at home. One issue, what have you guys done to solve that nose cone screw? The darn thing is aluminum, and the threads are pretty much gone so it won't tighten up against the nose cone. It seems it's all one piece of aluminum lathed with the threaded portion sticking out. I tried the teflon tape trick, temp solution. Any ideas? Thank you in advance!

Tip22v Yes ground away till it fitted leaving around a 1/8" gap between former and Turbine. There is enough left so it is still strong enough.

737D mine is still fine, threads are good. I suppose I would cut the threaded portion off, drill and tap to insert a stud maybe?

It flies very well, extremely happy with it, and its just the right size to handle easily for transport etc.

Enjoy.

Thank you sir for the reply. Yeah, I was thinking the same thing! I'll give that a try today. Love that color scheme of yours!

I finally got to maiden my T-one today and it was wonderful! I used Lior's throws and they were a good starting point. I eventually nixed the expo and might bump the throws up a little more. She slows down for really soft and smooth landings; almost don't even need breaks. I'm flying on a Kingtech K-120G and she has good power for big, energy conserved aerobatics. She flew so well that on the maiden I was comfortable doing basic aerobatics like rolls, knife edges, inverted flight, Cuban 8s and humpty bumps. The stall was super slow and straight on. She does take the lion's share of the 300 foot runway to get off the ground even with 40mm of flaps; more power would get her off the ground quicker, but not really needed in the air as I was rarely above 60% throttle except on verticals. After 8 minutes of flight plus about 30 seconds for landing she had about a quarter tank left. I could probably bump it up to 9 minutes.

She is amazing and was totally worth the 10 month wait.

Luge Racer,

Congrats on the Maiden flight!!! I know everyone says it is so worth the wait and I am really happy to hear you said the same thing after your long wait, music to our ears!! I know it has been a long hard ride for our customers having to wait so long to buy a Jet, and T-One Models and Pacific RC Jets wants to say thank you again for all your patience and understanding while T-One went through some growing pains. From our 1st T-1, to well over 100 delivered, just here in the States, I am really happy to say, the factory has not deviated from the Quality 1 bit, and they are still making small improvements as we get feedback from our customers. The good news is, now that the factory has settled in the NEW factory, hired and trained more workers, we have actually caught up on the waiting list and can deliver T-1's in a timely manor now, right around 8 weeks. 8 weeks may still seem like a long time, but remember, ALL T-1, Mini T-1, T-3 and Euro Fighter are ALL 100% painted (NO STICKERS OR DECALS) and built to order. As many of you have seen, we have 15 standard color schemes to choose from and 10 Custom Schemes including a whole new line of Custom Monster schemes, that are ABSOLUTELY stunning to see in person!! I know I am repeating myself but T-One Models REALLY Appreciates all your business, Support, Understanding and has Committed to building TOP QUALITY JETS ONLY!! Stay tuned for the 2.7M F-22 coming soon!!

Cheers,

Dirk

Flight number 2 and a special thanks to John Shirron for taking the video; I'm sure it wasn't easy to keep up with.

Thank you. She's a *****cat in the air and I'm sure you'll love the way she flies. Unfortunately I'll be at a street luge race on Saturday, but I'm looking forward to the video.

You get used to them, and they're not in the landing pattern. Bonus: they make good racing pylons.

Planning to maiden this Thursday after work

I went with the Electron Retracts, wheels, brakes, and legs. I cut off about 1 1/4 inch off the nose gear door so that the gear door can close after the nose retract is deployed. I've got the CG 90mm in front of the main gear, which should be around 250, At 250 I did not have to add any lead to the nose for balance. I'm using Loir's settings for the throws, everything I've read and seen indicates those are solid throws. Because I went with the Electron retract setup my wheels are on the inside of the strut rather than the outside, does anyone see this as a problem? I already did my taxi test and range check with the turbine running, I feel like I'm ready to go. Now I just have to get out there and fly this baby!

Default Speed.

Does anyone have any data on how fast this plane will fly? I can't find a manual online or any comments concerning top speed.

Thanks,
Craig

My maiden was Monday 28 Aug 2017 out at Crow's Landing. Weather was awesome 1st thing in the morning. When it went airborne for the 1st time, I had to put in maybe 5 clicks of up trim (might be a tad bit nose heavy) and about 6 clicks of right trim as she wanted to roll left a bit. I flew the 1st half of the flight with gear down, 2nd half with gear up. I have yet to install the darn nose gear door, dislike doors!!! I'm still on the fence about the main strut doors as well. Anyhow, the maiden was pretty much a non-event. The T1 flew very well, as was to be expected. I have the Jetcat 140RXi installed, Sullivan skywriter, Powerbox Cockpit SRS, iGyro SRS (doesn't need it, had it, put it in, use it if I need it), Powerbox GPS for speed input into iGyro, Jettronics single action for brakes, Jettronics double action for retracts, dual air tanks, that's it! She lands nice and slow, I put 4 flights on it maiden day. Thank you Peter, Lew and Andre for your help in video and support.

Here's the video link:

It's a sport jet, you don't need the doors

That's really dependant on how much power you put into it and how clean it is (doors or no doors). FWIW: with a K-120, nose gear door but no main doors mine hit 155 mph according to the GPS without much time to let her wind up. If I had more airspace she could've gone faster. But... this plane isn't about top speed, it's about having fun.

My nose gear door came preattached. I wasn't planning on installing it myself.

Nice job on the maiden flight, congrats!

Thank you kind sir. I was looking at your build, and I have build envy!!! I like your 90 degree connectors for your power input to the Powerbox Mercury, I did that with Deans connectors to my Smartfly Regulator for the Rebel. I'm really happy with my Powerbox Cockpit SRS and igyro, took some fooling around with to get it setup correctly. The 2nd flight was setting up the igryo with the TestFly Assistant, that worked out pretty well. I see your going to shoot for this Friday. All will go well. I believe I used that same throws for initial setup as the ones you were looking at. I just laid my iPhone with bubble level on each flight control surface, seems to be pretty accurate, and setup with degrees of throw rather than millimeters of throw. Be sure to take video!!! Yeah, we are lucky to be able to use that facility on certain days. Keep us posted on the birth of another T1.

Tom

I love your wide open fields, so sad that all we have is 300'x25' asphalt strip, but we make it work

I used the TestFly assistant on my previous jet and it worked well so I'm going to use it again to set the gain on the maiden. Using the iPhone is a good idea, I had not thought about using it on my jets, I have used it to set pitch on my heli-blades so should be more than adequate for a jet. I've got my CG set at 250 and I suspect that I'll be putting in a few clicks of up trim like you, but I'll move the CG back after the first flight if needed. I've a got cameraman on standby for video, just need decent weather and I'm ready to go. - Tom

I flew my T1 in Ottumwa at the AMA Foundation Jet Rally last week. The air was dry and the temps were cool. Perfect performance weather! With a K-140, nose gear door and no main doors the radar trap showed 208 out of a dive. I was shocked! The plane does not seem like it is flying fast. I think the large fuselage makes it look slow. The K-140 is the perfect engine for this bird.

Tailwinds,

John
