Default Steering Cable attachment to steering arm

Guys do you find it better to attach the steering cable to the arm tightly? Or do you attach in a loose loop? I have had problems in the past with a loose loop as it can catch in the arm but I am looking for how most set up their steering cables.

Thanks

A little bit taught. I usually put rubber bands in there to keep the slack. If it's too much slack you get unaccurate steering and can cause take off problems. On my Euro, I bent the nose strut and that put more slack in the line. So I'm over steering on take off, which put a lot of rudder in. On the rudder on the Euro, a lot of rudder causes roll, so very sloppy rolled takeoff. Anyway, just make it taught and you'll be alright.

I know about the cable tension as I have spring airs and if they are too tight it will prevent the gear from locking down. Sean I am talking about where the cable goes through the hole in the steering arm. Do you pull the cable tight and move the swage fitting up close to the arm? or is the swage fitting off aways from the steering arm? Do you understand?

Let me clarify one more thing...the steering arm on the nose gear itself.

Thanks

I put the screws half way so they are adjustible if that's what you are refering to. If you are looping through the hole on the strut, it doesn't matter. Just make it so it can't come off.

I like the screw sitting better cause it's adjustible. My Euro does not have it, and after the bent strut deal, it's getting it.

If you need a picture let me know.

But I've had loops tied off that had almost a half inch if that makes sense

This is how I set up my Roo. Still building it so I can't say how it will work in the real world but it works sweet on the bench. [8D]

Mike
Looks like a nice setup, but I would be tempted to put a washer on the outside of both ball links. I've seen them pop off, once they get a little worn.

Gary, Good idea. Have to remember to do that before I fly it. Thanks.[8D]
