Tommy,

You are right, this bird seems to be a good match for the MW44.
Could you please post pics of your kit ? I'd like to see what it looks like...

Will try and get some pics for you. I may end up selling it since I don't currently have a 44, and I think this would be the best combo for this kit.

Hal,
About the su27, I think there is a possibility to have the turbine mounted inside the fuse.
You then then have to use a thrust pipe...
You can also leave the turbine where it is, protect it with a plastic bag and mold you own cowl...

Tommy,
Still waiting for those pics...

Just a quick one.
I just got off the phone with thorjet.
And the trials for the thorjet hawk / mw44
where very successful. I was told was a more scale speed.
The hawk was lighted up. I think he just used liteply formers
rather than the the thicker ones. More info will follow and
instructions will be added in the kits for the 44 conversion.

Also EAM is working in a He-163 salamander for the 44
Check the electric ducted fan version for more info on the salamander !!!!

I would be very interested to know if the Aeronaut Rafale would be compatible with the Wren 44, curently running off twin 90mm fans. Any ideas?

Mank,

Seems to like a good match to me. Weight and wingspan look about right.
Just make sure you get the kevlar fuselage version (Order No. 1358/00).
Keep us posted.

Cheers yann, picking up the the kevlar version and turbine next week, thinking of putting slats on the model as increased weight will increase takeoff length and landing speed. A controlled crash is not what i want!

Mank,

Slats will increase control at low speed, it will not lower the stall speed.
If you want to lower the stall speed, you need flaps.
The weight increase should not be to much.
If you really want to fit slats, look first at how the wing is built.
Please create a dedicated thread and post tons of pics, as I have never seen this bird.

Yann
Yann I think you are wrong there, slats WILL decrease stall speed. The slot formed by a slat re-energises the boundary layer , delaying the separation point, allowing higher values of alpha and lift coeficient to be achieved before the wing stalls, therefore lowering the speed at which the stall occurrs. In addition, slats increase the wing area and camber. The lowering of the stall speed is one reason that on some Boeings, eg. 737, when the stall angle is approached the outboard leading edge slats extend automatically (inboard LEDs are flaps) delaying the stall. Too early retraction of leading edge slats can actually place the wing in a stalled condition unless speed is increased. Handley Page is generally credited with the design of leading edge slats way back in the 20s aor 30s. and he demonstrated some incredible angles of attack with some HP aircraft fitted with his slats.

Regards,

David Gladwin.

Yann:
I found this site that did a P60 conversion on what looks to be the standard grp airframe.

hehe..... In my opinion its too weak for turbine as it is.
Alot of re-enforcement would be needed.....in my opinion.

But it seems to fly fine at 4-5kg`s with electric power out of the box.

WARNING
what ever you do don`t go for the thorjet hawk. i flew the one that is pictured on the website and it is the worst designed aircraft i have ever flown . a few other people have also flown it and agree with me . and it was not how it was built. the wing design is terrible.
